IDW Publishing's John Barber talks Unicron - Transformers News - TFW2005
I stuck with it this long, it would be stupid not to cross the finish line so close to the end of the race.
Poor Barber. Stuck with being the captain of a sinking ship.
There's a long running gag about John and ships on Moonbase 2 I'm fighting the urge to make.
It\'s still shocking that they would just end the series and reboot it. If only Marvel would do that.
It's partly his fault it's sinking.
Oh, are you guys investors in IDW?
As much as I've enjoyed IDW's Transformers continuity (that includes Infiltration - 2009 Ongoing, barring a few missteps), I'm looking forward to reading the end of the story of all these characters I've grown attached to ever since I started reading the Transformers comics (I'm a newbie, started reading 2014/15 or so). I'm just hoping it doesn't end with Unicron munching on Prime, Bumblebee, and the rest.
Given his track record, I am not having high hopes about this ending. Or that Unicron will even be a character and actually talk...
Let's just hope they get better writers when they reboot, and they leave all the stupid human crossovers out of Transformers.
Didn't they already? DC, Marvel, they all reboot everything every 20 years or so whether it is a soft reboot or something else, there is always a Crisis or Doctor Doom becomes God or something.
Marvel only does soft reboots, and even then, they usually just retcon things or, what they do most often, ignore old stuff that contradicts newer stuff.
As opposed to DC which has huge event reboots periodically.
I just want a good ending
Unicron talked at the end of issue 0
Third issue of the original comics had Spider-man show up, Transformers and stupid human crossovers is a constant.
But why is a sinking ship? People who say quality has fallen are talking about Lost Light(which in fact was the only one of the comics that was not affected by the other Hasbro comics), Optimus Prime is at the same level of quality as ex-RID, TAAO was considered better than the mini-series of Windblade, Revolution and First Striker events were better than previous Transformers events (Chaos, Combiner Wars and Titans Return) and about the other comics that came out after Revolution: Revolutionaries and Rom were great, GI Joe and Micronauts were good and only Mask and Visionaries were bad.
With Marvel, it's never actually a reboot. It's just another relaunch line of comics, from Marvel NOW, to All-New All-Different, to Fresh Start. The only thing they ever did that was close to a reboot was the Ultimate Comics line. DC seems to have the right idea.
Thing is, a lot of people didn’t like the New 52.
Only once DC Rebirth happened did people change their tune.
And honestly, I don’t think that IDW is a sinking ship.
It’s got comics other then Transformers. TMNT(which still sells in the double digits), Star Trek, My Little Pony, I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Doctor Who with them, and many other things.
I buy more IDW comics than DC the past 5 years so yes.
Who is this..? NM.
Lost Light is still my Fav IDW book even if it has fallen down a notch or 2. I don't care what anyone else says about it.
Meanwhile the Hasbro-verse as a whole has been an utter failure, TAAO started off slow but then got really interesting but Scott still left for another Hasbro-vers book that ended flopping with no other new Hasbro-verse books in sight. Thus "The Sinking Ship".
Defend it all you want but they're not ending the current TF IDW-vers because things are going so great. The only thing I'm going to really miss when they reboot is James Roberts.
So if Barber can't fill in that gap or make it similar to when -ation's first started when they reboot, then it's a wrap for me.
