This discussion was reading very nicely, and now the complainers have to come in and rain on the nice parade. I think the comic looks awesome and I will pick it up as well. Perhaps they can give it with a special edition toy model or something.
I didn't rain on anyone's parade. So to make it clear I just simply said something along the lines of, "Wow I don't like it. I think its ugly. As in when my eyes perceive this image I don't feel any sort of excitement or attraction. In fact you could say its the opposite of those feelings. I feel disappointed and repelled. But being the civil person that I am, I will reserve judgment on this piece of work till I see the final product...but if this sketch is any indication who knows." Sorry to rain on your parade, I won't try to pop your balloon buddy. Or wet your noodle or some other shitty metaphor about the unveiling of a sketch and its welcoming
I think Don is teh uber!!! But this is the first image I've seen from him that did not knock my socks off. Maybe it will look better after it is colored. I am probably just jaded because his stuff normally kills me. However, it does look like the robot has two left feet. He has larger toes on the inside of one foot, and the outside of the other. He may have a big freak N gun, but I bet he can't dance.
What the heck does that transform into? Or it morphs? I hope the prequel will bring in some much-needed background and characterisation, that the movie's story is sorely lacking. From tidbits I've heard that... S P O I L E R S ! ! D'uh. ...it'll also explain how Megatron was trapped in ice on Earth while searching for the Allspark. I'll certainly be interested in learning how a Transformer who doesn't even need fuel to go on as he's fueled by consumed sparks can freeze off.... :? I wonder if Simon's excellent writing and Don's superb drawing talent will be able to make a wonder out of the mess that is this new continuity. But then, DW's Armada was a mess too when Simon was brought in... It'll propably be one of the few movie items I'll buy, along with toys of Jazz, Barricade, Blackout and Apeface (alias Starscream).
For the first time I gotta say I'm more excited about the fact this is a movie prequel story (which hopefully will explain and flesh out some things the movie in it's limited running time won't be able to) than on Don's artwork. To say the least ... it looks weird. -airfox
That's pretty funny. Definitely two left feet. At first, looking at the clavicle spikes, I thought this was Megatron. Looking at the legs, it looks like Protoform Prime. Looking at the face, it looks like Bumblebee. Where are all the Beast Machines haters to come out and say "It's too organic?" Honestly, I don't like these designs AS TRANSFORMERS. I thought someone like Don Figueroa could make them look good, but he's stuck being a slave to the designs. As a drawing, it works and looks cool, but to my eyes, that's not a Transformer.
is this like some alternate universe transformers???? hello................this is not how the transformers looked on cybertron why are they trying to put off these rip offs on us.........i dont care how they dress them those of us who know.........know the cybertron modes of our fav charaters look nothing like these bionicle/predator/whatever the hell childhood rapin rattletraps, jeeze its just never ending..............
Just like how The Unicron Trilogy is seperate from the G1/BW/BM/Uni continuity. Hopefully we'll get to see some characters that will be toys for the moive, but won't appear in the film itself. There's nothing I love more than obscure overlooked guys getting some storyline when it comes to TF comics. DN
Two left feet? That my friend, is the reason why we invented Photoshop! Don't worry I'm sure they'll fix it. If they don't then I'll be wondering just who the hell they have reviewing the art. Leaving a figure with two left feet (robot, human, whatever) would be something my College art prof. would yell at me over and he's a tremendously nice person. It's just something that's not acceptable, even in my eyes. It should be corrected and if it isn't then shame on them. Another neat note about my College art prof. is that he worked for Hasbro from the 70's to late 80's. He's an Industrial Designer and he is currently doing a big job for Wal-Mart. I asked him about what he did while at Hasbro. He told my class that he worked mainly on My Little Pony and the 3&3/4th G.I. Joe line. He also designed a bunch of the 80's G.I. Joe playsets & Vehicles. But most awesome of all is that he Designed a ton of the original Gen.1 sticker sheets for the Original Transformers! And he's my art teacher <awesome!>. I'm currently taking art classes in college because I want to be an industrial designer and possibly work for Hasbro in the future (transformers specifically). And in case you are wondering I'm in Rhode Island the same place Hasbro is (And finally BOTCON!). He told me I'd be great for the field. So yeah, on that note I'm sticking with art as my Major. 2007's GONNA ROCK!!!!!
