) and I didn’t really think it suited him very well. Anyway who do you guys think would work for him I have no idea who but I just wanna see what you all think

I happen to think he sounds like a clown.
Overlord is supposed to sound like a thug.

 

I kinda dig the “smug smiling arrogant prick” voice, as pretty much that’s him, never really altering pitch just cracking at the edges when he amuses himself.

I suppose headcannon is a hard thing to satisfy.

 

I dunno I was thinking Tom Kane channeling Tim Curry's The Darkness performance through his own work as HIM on Powerpuff Girls. I think that voice coming out of that oily smiling face on top of that massive frame puts over his Caligula-inspired brand of crazy and depravity in LSOTW.

I do like this sample though.

Also the music made think of Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like A Hole" for some reason and I think that is pretty solid as a theme for IDW Overlord.

 

I think the effect sought was something along the line of Leonardo DiCaprio in django unchained: a barbarian wearing rich, posh southern "gentleman" trappings. It follows that sort of decadent indulgence he has towards bloodsport in the IDW comics. The problem I think is that the performance falls flat in some places. The lack of expressiveness in the character rigs really hurts this show.

 

I always felt Hugo Weaving's Megatron voice suited Overlord but this is great.

 

I really like that voice. Basically a more casual BW Megs and also an American ish Tim Curry (who in a perfect stroke-free world I’d have voicing Tarn).

I began wondering if Jeffrey Dean Morgan would be a good pick, and maybe he would. Overlord is like Negan on steroids. I also thought Lee Pace doing Ronan the Accuser would be something worth listening to, but hearing this voice makes me reconsider since this guy is more wickedly fun while Ronan wasn’t fun.

 

I always had this image of a very British sounding David Kaye style in my head... at least that's how I make it sound.

 

Overlord should have a voice based after this.

 

Whenever I think of a cunning but cruel villain I always go back one voice actor.

PS This guy voiced Harbinger in Mass Effect

 

No one who makes him sound like a slave owner.

 

I would have liked the guy who played Tony Soprano to do him.
That would have been a cool Overlord.
Overlord isn't cultured or intellectual.
He's no Tarn.
He's a strategically gifted and cunning thug who really, really enjoys violence.
A mobster persona would be ideal for him.

It was Texan actually. Something you would see from an Evil Hank Hill.

 

It's vaguely David Kaye-esque...which is who I wanted in the first place.

Overlord should have a much smoother voice. I think Maurice LaMarche, doing something close to The Brain would work.

 

Dunno. I think Michael Ironside would make a hell of a voice for Overlord.

 

Love that titans return voice. I think Patrick Stewart would be perfect.
