IDW No Longer Able to Offer Transformers Comics for Digital Download in the UK, Europe - Transformers News - TFW2005

Not good, not good at all. I'm not wishing to be the bearer of bad news or cause a mass panic, but after hearing about this I wanted to get the word out.

Let's not jump to conclusions here. There is probably no blame to dish out - Comixology is ultimately only a middleman, and IDW only a licensee. And licenses being the complicated beasts that they are, Hasbro is probably not to blame either, though the combination of UK / European rights being with a different company and (most likely) IDW only having the rights for the US like Dreamwave before them is the cause.

I doubt we'll know unless some kind of public statement is made, which is unlikely, but what sucks really is that Europe based fans are being shut out of this avenue for getting the comics right when the digital-only content is on the rise.

Yeah, I was fearing this would happen.

A while ago, before the RiD and MTMTE ongoings started, there were no TF comics available digitally. When those two hit though, slowly but surely the shop would fill up with the rest of IDW's TF catalogue. Every once in a while all of the TF comics would be gone again, only to reappear a day or two later.

Was lucky to buy the MTMTE annual digitally through what I guess was some sort of freak accident, because all TF comics have been gone again for a week or two here now.

A shame. This saved me alot of trouble since I can't always visit the comics shop, and I would gladly pay full price just so I can read these ongoings right away. Guess I will be missing out unless I go through extra hassle from now on, blegh! :(

    This is fucking bullshit.
I have half a mind to get in contact and demand a refund for all the comics I can now no longer read.
Why something as simple as a comic based on Transforming robots is so difficult to get "cleared" over is beyond me.
Stupid "rules" and "guidelines" just there for the sake of being there.
Absolutely pissed about this seeing as I have spent a good £20+ on them through Comixology.

Just checked, it's ok. You can still log in and view any comics that you've already bought, but it appears that you won't be able to buy any more, which sucks. I don't have any shops over here that will stock them. I'm gonna have to eBay them from now on :(

That's not fair, and I totally feel for the European fans.

Personally, I've gone 100% digital with my comics, so if this had somehow happened in the states, well, I'd probably stop buying the monthly books.

Okay. Finally a somewhat official word on this.
I 've been looking for the Fall Of Cybertron comics on Comixology and got no results.
Now at least I know it's not just me.

Once again I am apparently being punished for being European.

Comixology is the only reason I've been able to keep up with MTMTE. My closest comic shop is about an hour away. If this ever happened in the US, I dunno what I'd do.

This is bullshit. The TF comics are finally worth reading again and this happens.

UK fans have my sympathy. I've been enjoying the ease of downloading comics through the comixology and IDW app, and I'd be more than frustrated if this was the states that was getting this news instead of Europe.

If its a rights issue between Titan & IDW I hope it can get resolved quickly.

Blame not IDW; blame instead whatever UK and European companies that have the rights to digitally distribute the comics and prefer to sit on their hands instead.

This better not happen to the US too, I don't have a convenient comic shop to drive to for the print versions. I live in the middle of nowhere.

Little chance of that, fortunately. It shouldn't happen unless another company somehow gets the license to distributing TF comics in North America.

To the people saying their comic shop is an hour away, my nearest comic shop is thousands of miles away. I'm a UK fan living in South Korea. Comixology was the only way I could legally get issues. Thanks to this change I can no longer get new issues unless I find "other ways" to download them.
