Steal away! Green Stuff is plumbers epoxy filler generally favoured by Warhammer/GW miniature modders and sculptors. It comes as a strip of half yellow and half blue and you mix the two to make it turn green. Once it's green you can shape and mold it. It's really really sticky and sets within an hour or so, so you have to work fairly quickly with it. Unlike the other fillers around this stuff sets and becomes more like a form of PVC, so it's more appropriate for working with plastics I figured.

Green Stuff has harderned nicely overnight, but I'll give it another couple of days before I start gluing anything to it. In the meantime I've started painting the backpack -

The magenta paint I got was stupidly thin so I'll give it a couple of coats of this squid pink and then try again with the magenta.

Having no luck getting the magenta paint I got - a Vallejo one that's far too thin, obvs - to adhere properly to the wings/cockpit/backpack and chest, so whilst I wait until I can get something more appropriate from Mr Hobby or Tamiya, I've started painting the arms and legs - both of which are taking the paint very nicely, thankfully.

Next I will be adding side wings to his head with Green Stuff and measuring and cutting plasticard panels for the shins, forearms and shoulders - the one part of the job I'm dreading tbh as I'm just not great with measuring and fiddly parts :(

Rough version of the new shoulder covers. Should have a pair of finished ones tomorrow!

Exactly what I used for my WIP, with an Energon Bulkhead as the base...

I'm going to transplant parts of a Shapeways Blurr head onto the Springer head I think. I tried making head fins with Green Stuff and it wasn't great.

It is annoying that Spinister's arms are coloured inconsistently in the comics, with them sometimes being purple, sometimes being a dark pink/light magenta and other times being flat out pink, but I decided to mostly go with the toy colours in the end.

Here's where I'm at right now. Shoulder covers made, painted and attached - I padded the area underneath them with a layer of Green Stuff and wedged them on over it. I'll make the leg panels tomorrow.

Annoyingly the Gundam vents I ordered are far too small for my needs so I will have to think of something else.

Not too happy with how the paint is right now either - it went on really streaky on the shoulder covers - but you have to work with what's available really. I may change the arms for a lighter colour as it looks a bit much, and the legs may go darker. We'll see how it ties together once I've painted his torso.

Managed to scrape up a few quid to order some paint so hopefully I can finish off the bulk of this one by midweek (apart from his head, which will have to wait).

Bit of a better look at the shoulder covers.

Paneling added to front shins and shoulder vent detailing begun. I'll add the side leg panels and finish the vents tomorrow. Oh, and I'll add forearm panels to cover over the area I filled in. Thinking of adding covers to the feet too.

Plasticard. You can buy a pack of five A4 sheets of it on Amazon pretty cheap. It's basically the same styrene that most model kits are made from.

Side leg panels added, some detail shots below -

Reference pics of Spinister's legs are weirdly hard to come by, but I noticed in the panel below he has side vents on each, so I'll construct those in plasticard and add them along with kneecovers and some panelling for a more comic-accurate look.

Sold some comics and managed to get some new paint. The new magenta is more like fluorescent pink and still won't go on very well. Thank gawd I only paid £2.10 for the paint as it is bloody useless. I just caved and used the squid pink that I already had and it looks pretty good I reckon!

I'll be adding some purple parts to the wing/cockpit/backpack once it's all dry too.
