Do you think of DOTM Adaptation as the real ending to the IDW movie comics (which were, of course, intended to tie-in to the actual movies instead of the adaptation)?

Yeah, the DOTM adaptation was kind of a different kettle of fish, because John Barber incorporated deliberate differences from the DOTM film to better tie it into the comics, whereas the TF07 and ROTF adaptations were just different because they were based on outdated scripts (which is why the tie-in comics ignored those differences and went off the actual films, as you say).

So effectively, yeah, the "IDW movie continuity" is made up of:

    - the tie-in prequel and sequel comics
    - the TF07 and ROTF films
    - the DOTM comic adaptation

I don't consider the IDW movieverse at all.

And what a glorious IDW movieverse it was thanks to Barber. I so wish he could keep going with it because he was a maestro when he was brought in for DOTM to clean up the movieverse. That article on TF Wiki of the movie timeline was a work of art, now torn asunder by that leak before DOTM and the movies as always ignoring the tie-in material.

Schick crossover had Bumblebee mention him dodging several missiles at once with a passenger one time, which occured in DOTM's comic adaptation (instead of Bumblebee dodging that truck in the car chase) Could it be a reference to tie-it into the movie comics? I doubt it but it's fun to think about.
