TRANSFORMERS: THE ANIMATED SERIES, VOL. 1

The Transformers Animated Series takes the concept of Robots in Disguise and reinvents it for an all-new generation of fans! And now the animated shows can be enjoyed in print, too -- in the form of all-new books that use actual still frames from the new animated series to offer a unique reading experience for Transformers fans of all ages. This first volume contains the entire 70-minute kick-off adventure!

    96 pages, $7.99.

TRANSFORMERS: THE ANIMATED SERIES, VOL. 2

In this second volume of the Transformers Animated Series, Transformers fans can experience two complete episodes of the all-new animated series. The Transformers have come to New Detroit, and nothing will ever be the same again! Volume two contains two stand-alone episodes of this exciting new show.

    96 pages, $7.99.

    THE TRANSFORMERS SPOTLIGHT: BLASTER

Written by Simon Furman, art and cover by Emiliano Santalucia.

Presenting the latest standalone tale focusing on some of the best-loved (or loathed) characters from the Transformers Universe. The spotlight falls on Blaster, the rousing, bombastic Œvoice' of the Autobot counter-offensive. Long ago, that 'voice' was abruptly, mysteriously silenced, and now the truth about what happened to Blaster‹and who betrayed him and the Autobots -- is about to be revealed, with shocking consequences! By Simon Furman and, making his IDW Transformers debut, artist Emiliano Santalucia (He-Man). Alex Milne provides a special retailer incentive cover.

    32 pages, $3.99.

    THE TRANSFORMERS: DEVASTATION #5

Written by Simon Furman, art by E.J. Su, covers by Su and Nick Roche.

The fearsome Reapers (from Spotlight: Sixshot) make their move, targeting the Earthbound... Decepticons? The Command Bunker in Oregon comes under all-out assault, and the loyalties of living weapon Sixshot are once more sorely tested. And, as the carnage mounts, Starscream makes his move! Plus, Hot Rod vs. the Headmasters, Hunter vs. The Machination, and Optimus Prime makes a fateful decision that will forever affect the future of planet Earth! Not to be missed under any circumstances!

    32 pages, $3.99.

THE TRANSFORMERS: BEST OF THE UK: DINOBOTS #5

Written by Simon Furman, art by Will Simpson, cover by Nick Roche, retro cover.

A new chapter of Dinobot lore continues with the second part of "In The National Interest." The government and the Decepticons both want Joy Meadows... and only a certain Dinobot stands between them in this classic Simon Furman tale. Nick Roche once again provides an all-new cover re-creating a classic scene from the issue!

    32 pages, $3.99.

    CLASSIC TRANSFORMERS, VOL. 1 TPB

Written by Bob Budiansky and others, art by Don Perlin and others.

Relive the original Transformers stories that started it all! Presenting over 300 pages of classic Transformers comic book stories in one affordable volume. Pulling from the earliest of the Œ80s Marvel material, this first volume offers some of the most beloved stories from the past, including the seminal "The Last Stand," "The Worse of Two Evils," "I, Robot Master," and many others. The Transformers have undergone many changes over their 20-plus year reign over pop culture, but this retro, black and white collection showcases the beginnings of their dynasty.

    312 pages, $19.99.

    THE TRANSFORMERS: TARGET: 2006 TPB

Written by Simon Furman, art by Geoff Senior, Jeff Anderson and others, cover by Nick Roche.

Collecting the landmark series originally published by Marvel UK! Spun from the story spinning out of the Transformers Animated Movie, writer Simon Furman and artists Geoff Senior and Jeff Anderson recount a stars-spanning tale where Galvatron travels back in time to construct a weapon with which to destroy Unicron once and for all, and takes on the depleted Autobots at the same time! It's a battle that will test all but the most stalwart allegiances. Topping off this collection is a cover gallery featuring the classic cover recreations by Nick Roche.

    128 pages, $19.99.

I'm actually intrigued enough by the concept of the animated series being printed that I may be sucked back into buying comic books after swearing off of them a few years back. Beware IDW. Once you have me, you have about six months of life left. I've killed two other comic book companies just by getting hooked on their books. I'll likely kill you too.

But seriously, I won't be able to watch the animated series until they come out on DVD. With the way Transformers cartoon DVD releases are handled, that'll be about six years after I die, so this may be the best way for someone like me to find out what Animated is all about.

Bah. Hasbro has been uploading episodes on their website for years now. I'm sure they will do the same for the new series. I don't have cable and I'm not getting it just for a Transformers series. Not when there are plenty of online options. There's a presidential campaign coming and I'd rather keep the annoying media onslaught out of my house. :D

I'll put down for a DVD boxset once it's available. I don't doubt it will be, being a western series. Notice every western TF series *has* seen a DVD release.

Let's attach those covers in the thread, please. That Grimlock art is giving me the damn SHIVERS, it's so good.

I read that as a STING/TF crossover. Now I have Soundwave in my head singing "Synchronicity II." Which sounds REALLY odd.

Useless to me. I've tried watching the past couple series online and just couldn't bring myself to sit through it. I need it in decent enough quality to actually be able to tell what's going on.

Also note that they were all released prior to Hasbro doing the "let's see who can hose up this DVD release" shuffle over the past couple years.

Screen resolution. If I cared about content quality I'd be watching the film versions of Shakespeare classics.

The Animated Series in print? So does that mean the show's meant to be out in January then?

And Devastation sounds like it's gonna have alot of big things going on in it!

That is one of the BEST covers I have seen for any series in quite a while. Can't wait!

    Starscream's cover is awesome.

IDW has to make some of these covers into posters. I want the Starscream one.

I especially like how E.J. worked around the fact that Starscream shouldn't be able to do that pose due to the wings on his back by anchoring them where he did.

To my knowledge, only the horrid "Man of Iron" and "Big Broadcast of 2006" were skipped. Everything else US Marvel, G1 and G2, has been collected in the Titan TPBs.

Truthfully, the coloring was so bad on a lot of those books that reprinting them in color wouldn't be worth it. OTOH, in B&W, it might be hard to tell some of the 'bots apart.

The G1 TPB is in B/W to make it affordable.

Is basically the same Marvel did with their Essentials.

Devastation seems to be heating up, and can't wait for Blaster's spotlight. Kind of sad that Target:2006 is getting a TPB because it means I should have waited for it. But it'll teach me... yes it will.
