    Hi,

Anyone know where I can get references for the 3 characters for the fanart cover contest? (Hoist, Hubcap, Rampage). The instructions say they need to be based on IDW style.

I know me my G1, but I have no idea how that differs from DW or IDW or wahtever :dunce

You think that's bad, I have Whirl, Siren, and Viewfinder. Anyways, I would try the Stormbringer comics. I think that they have the Predacons in there though I don't know about Hubcap or Hoist.

I'd be more than happy to use tweaked G1 designs, so it doesn't matter to me which Bot gets picked. I just wanna make sure that "IDW styled" isn't something very different from that.

Actually, Misfire is a very cool character designwise. You shouldn't have to alter it from the toy as it already looks like an alien jet. In fact, I'd suggest using his jet mode for you cover as in my experience from taking pictures of it, there is no bad side to the character.

Since Hoist is kinda-sorta Trailbreaker, you could try working from Trailbreaker in the Kup Spotlight.
    What something? A bad attitude?

    Brawn, Highbrow, Octopunch.

Brawn might be the most boring and ugly Transformer ever.

All they seem to mean is that they want the art to be detailed as if it was going to be in the comic. This means no Super Deformed, stylized art or Computer Generated stuff.

That is all I understood it to mean, but I would make sure to ask them for clarification.

And your best bet is to try to take a G1 design and if it is a Season 1-2 character, give him an updated alt mode. If he is a season 3+ bot, then he is probably already generic science fiction so just use his g1 design.

Dude that is awesome!!! I would love to have those 3.

If that's what it is, it'd be great. I'm just wary because i know for fact that in Infiltration, some bots (Ratchet, Wheeljack, I think) got massive body redesigns.

Only IDW Hoist pic I could google for:

I wouldn't go by that picture, as the Hoist in that picture was used as an IDW cover for an old Marvel story that IDW reprinted... meaning that it's intended to look like Hoist in the Marvel comics.

    ANY G1 design is acceptable!

The note in the instructions about characters being of G1/IDW tradition meant that if you got (for example) Megatron, that you didn't draw a Megatron that had a T-Rex head for a hand or liked to yoink Mini-cons. :)

If the character has no IDW reference, then use a G1 design, or tweak it into something modern. As long as it's still blatantly the same G1 character.

What are you talking about? What pro artists?

All of the characters in round one are rather obscure. Part of the challenge.

Everyone can rest assured that no one in round one is sitting on a Jetfire or Grimlock assignment while others are stuck with Scamper.

There are a few "bigger" name characters here and there, but that all depends on how much you're into them. None of them are the big-name guys in round one.
