Toys, please? C'mon, Hasbro. Please? And make sure you give Guido a cut, as these are fantastic designs. Most of 'em seem quite workable, too. Wouldn't mind seeing Jetfire, Ironhide is a perfect name for a locomotive, and Hot Rod as an early automobile, like a Model A or something Olds was working on at the time.

Looks like an homage to Shocky's seaweed-encrusted visage as he re-emerged from the briny deep in Marvel TF #30 or 40 something...

Beautiful! Simply beautiful! I'm not sure who I like best.

Seekers - very Jules Verne, I'm in awe.
Megatron - perfect, so full of menace, it's like he was born to this mold.
Shockwave - a pleasant surprise, never would have thought of him as a ship.
Insectrain - very creative, I adore all the little details like Kickback's spring legs and Bombshell's gun head.
Bumblebee - looks like they found a way around VW, seriously I love seeing my favorite Bot involved in all this, cute as always.
Optimus - the alt mode feels so right, big & powerful, the steam train was the 1800s equivalent of the "king of the road."

We want toys! Are you listening Hasbro? I'd love to see a Model-T or some such too.

This looks like the best thing to come out of Transformers since alternators.

    Wow, just wow...

Guido, I have to say, you and Don are THE premiere TF artists, and your work is flawless. Who would have thunk it? Putting TF's in designs befitting the industrial revolution. I think they should do more stuff like this. It looks amazing.

I think the reason for so many trains is the fact that there weren't any other major means of transportation at the time, and that would probably be the best way for them to blend in. Remember "robots in disguise".

Unless of course you want a horse and buggy TF. Ummmm....I don't know if a Beast Wars style horse and G1 concept character would be all that great looking...

Besides, who would clean up after the horse.....?

    Ewwwwwww....

Damn! I hope there'll be some kind of art book for all these "Elseworlds" TFs. One compiling War Within, GI Joe vs Transformers (both the WWII and modern day), Hearts of Steel, and whatever else they come up with. I just like the art so much on all of these.

The storylines on most of these leave something to be desired, or so I hear...

Why wouldn't the insecticons still just turn into insects instead of trains? What, they didn't have bugs back then?

Not that the new design isn't cool or anything, but seems like a redesign just for the sake of being different and without a lot of logic behind it.

Love'n the concept art , he has done a awsome job.
I gotta say the only thing that i wanna see differently is for megs colours to be switched around .
If Megatron was grey with black detail , he would look alot better I think .
Minor thing however Awsome work Guido and IDW .

very nice, Course I say that Hasbro should have to do a toyline for each mini-series IDW does. As for Guido, I used to hate his art during energon.....In retrospect I think it was just his colorist I hated. This ROCKS

I really like the design of the new figs. I gives a 'What if' feel to the characters. I do question the steam/coal power and the designs that would limit the capability of the characters. Limited mobility of the trains vs their cybertron mode, or the seekers as rickety bi-planes. It will be interesting how they handle that in the comic. All and all very impressed with the design ideas surrounding it though. I would like more toys like this!!!!

Pretty amazing stuff. Guido is definetely one of the best TF artists around.

Bumblebee looks amazing. One of the best.

Megatron is fantastic and I like the color being black. Somehow looks more EEEEvil! :D

Shockwave is the second best IMHO. Never imagined old Shockwave looking as badass as ever as a boat. Wow.

But my favorites are the insecticons (insectitrains?). I need those as toys NOW!

This mini just became a must buy for me.

Because that's not the idea behind this story. If we wanted insecticons as insects, then we'll probably get a G1 style Insecticon story. God forbid something is done differently. Not only that, but the chances of Insecticons being bugs before them coming to earth is silly. They were from Cybertron. These are TF's that were probably awoken at another time, therefore we get different alt modes.

I'm surprised you didn't ask why Megs isn't some hand gun. They were around then...

What great designs these are. I like them as much as the WWII designs the DW had. Keep em coming IDW. I hope the story will be as exciting as the designs. :thumb

Awesome, awesome designs. Definitely getting these 4 issues.

And if they made toys, I'd get 'em.

Mr. Guidi, if you are reading, we all know the one major character absent from these designs so far:

    Soundwave.

Two words: Surveillance Zeppelin. Ravage and Laserbeak could be his engines.

Either that, or Soundwave gets to be a telegraph pole or transatlantic cable. :D
