Over at the IDW Publishing forums the results are finally up for the "Next Transformers Artist" cover contest. The judging was conducted by several individuals from IDW involved with Transformers comics, and you can see the final 9 entries over at the site by clicking here.
hrmph. I didn't make it past the first round, so I'm just going to go ahead and assume it was rigged.
Yep, I placed 3rd. The prize was the top 3 get to submit art to the IDW editors with the possibility of getting work. No guarantee of getting work, but a foot in the door nonetheless. The top 3 will also get their covers colored by an IDW colorist.
Hmmmmmmyeeeeeah. I like that answer. Me too! Though I had the misfortune/fortune of sharing my first character round (Drag Strip) with the person who went on to take first place.
Yeah I'd be surprised if you don't get something going out of this. Plus all the other digital work of yours I've seen. Not sure what field you're in, but if you aren't already getting paid to make with the artsies, you should be getting so soon.
Yeah, I've been making a living as an artist for 12 years now. I mainly do storyboards and comps for the ad industry. I do some film work from time to time, too. Always wanted to get a few comic gigs just to mark it off my "things to do in life" list. Maybe I'll get my chance.
