Are the IDW movie tie in comics considered to be canon? There have been some interesting revalations about some characters (particularly arcee and the twins). It'd be good if these were officially recognised.
Hasbro recognizes everything as canon, but some fans will not consider the comics to be canon, or toss them in a separate universe that runs parallel with the films. In my opinion, IDW has done a good job of not stepping on too many of the film's toes. Up until Nefarious I really enjoyed their movie stuff (Tales of the Fallen being a spotlight series was hit or miss). Fingers crossed that the next movie mini they put out hands the reigns back over to Mowry instead of letting Furman run his course.
Officially, it's only canon with IDWs adaptions of the films. Myself, I consider them to be canon with the films themselves too, with maybe just a few altered details to fit in with the differences between the films and comics.
It's official so it's technically canon. But within the line of BayFormers the comics only fit until the next movie comes out and overwrites anything in the comics. The film even overrides the toy tech specs. In this regard BayFormers is movie first and everything else second.
Well yeah, that's how it always works. The Beast Wars Tech Specs painted a whole different picture than what the show actually gave us, and which one is the definitive BW canon?
