A moment after this shot, Ultra Magnus drops Optimus' hand...crushing the annoying Daniel below. And there was much rejoicing!

    QFT!

Great piece of work Don. Sticking with a more "cartoon style" I see. ;)

I'm a little torn about the artwork. One one hand, I like the fact that Don's honoring the cartoon style for the characters. On the other hand, I'd love to see this story told using the slightly redesigned characters Don drew for DW G1 ongoing.

yeah, i'm actually really dissapointed that Don's not doing this in his normal, highly detailed style ~ it still looks good, but now it looks like anyone could be doing it... not anyone, but ya know what i mean?

I'm glad Don gets to flex his art muscles and show us he can draw in varied styles. Plus its adding to the feel, adding to the homage to the movie.... its interpretation not reinvention.

    Respectful I say.

Plus it'll really let the colourist shine. I think its a lot harder to draw in this clean animated style and pull it off in a comic.

I love that fandom has an artist that not only has multiple styles, but also does the Transformers justice with them all.

    Agreed.

Every time I see Don's name referenced anywhere, it's almost always preceeded by 'fan-favorite artist.' He might be the only thing 99% of the fandom can agree on wholeheartedly.

Hey that art is amazing but can someone explain what's going on here?

Isn't it a little early in IDW to be jumping to the movie story? Or is it meant to fit into the DW continuity as it looked like it was leading up to it? Or is it just for "shits and giggles" and not part of any continuity?

IDW's making a comic book adaptation of the 1980s animated movie

figured it would be cool since its the 20th anniversary and all

It's not part of any continuity thats from IDW. Its just a retelling of the movie to celebrate it's 20th anniversary.
