This was part of a lot I bought today. He looks pretty cool for a non transformer. Anybody know the story on this guy? He is stamped "Mark" Japan and has good amount of diecast.
Wow, I've never seen this robot before. Looks weird, but also cool at the same time. Too bad you can't take the lens casing off. He would have looked much better then.
I had one of those back in the day. The 'telephoto lens' part can come off. Don't remember exactly where it came from. It might have been a "Convertors" toy, but that's more guess than anything.
It's Reflector's cousin... you know the one they don't like to talk about. I read this thread earlier, and just couldn't resist coming back just to leave that comment. Glad to see Autoplex was able to help you out though.
Ha, I had one of those as a kid too! And I remember knowing in my heart of hearts that it wasn't a "real" Transformer.... but calling it "Reflector" anyway because I knew I would never have the genuine article. And whaddya know.... today I do the same thing with the Real Gear black Decepticon camera dude, calling him Classics Reflector. 20+ years later, I still play with my toys the same way...
I don't know if the spy version is a KO but I know for sure that there is one by the company 'Mark' that was signed onto by GiG for their line in Italy called FOCUS ROBO. See my link. Too bad Wheeljaxx I almost PM'd you as there was a mint in box w/ unapplied stickers GiG version of this guy up on ebay last week that went for under $100 shipped. I bid on it, but not high enough, should have bid more and I was thinking you might be into it... http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150217874970&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=005
DAMMMMMN yeah, anytime any one sees ANY transforming camara, please.... let me know, LOL. i've been looking for those gumball machine micro transforming cameras too, but i don't even know what to look for. they were all vintage cameras, like a brownie, twin lens reflex, 4x5 field camera, etc.
just so everyone knows, this guy is really small...i was expecting it to be larger and was disappointed by how tiny it was.
My guess is if the one you got in that lot has die-cast content, it must be a Focus Robo, not the Converters version... I don't think I've ever seen a Converters figure with any metal in them. zmog
You guys freaking rule. Thanks for all the info. Wheeljaxx..sorry man. My girlfriend is a photographer too, and she's not into Transformers at all, but she thought this was the cutest thing ever and she wants it. Thanks again guys
Yup, with the two links on the first page note the two different versions of this guy, the Focus Robo version seeming way better with die-cast and a missile launching flash attachment (similar to reflector).
I keep my Real Gear Camera, Camera-Phone, and Video Recorder standing in a groupe behind my KO Reflector (in Camera mode). It's kinda like they're the updated versions of the 3 bots... to me at least.
That's true, it was only about two inches wide in camera mode, give or take, way smaller than a camera that looked like that would actually be. On the upside, it had a cute little periscope-like effect, where if you looked through the viewfinder in the back, you would see out the lens of the camera.
