well after hearing that the LH Frost Giant may never be, i decided to start my own custom, and then if it does happen, ill have two heh. for starters though, i tested some sculpy out on ol Hulk, making his hair and beard, i will probably have to scrap this one though because its Sculpy III for one and there is no way to take it off and bake it and replace it, also i think it would be best to lay down the base colors of the face and shoulders b4 sculpting the beard and hair, and there will also be a helmet on him which is why the top of his head is sort of neglected.
Im thinking of using a real chicken or turkey leg bone to make a huge war hammer for him, some fake fur on his back, some miniature hand made chainmail for his chest, and a couple shoulderpads, and of course giant boots to cover up those Hulk feet.

currently waiting for photobucket maintenance to upload pics :/

thanks man, have you (or anyone esle) used sculpey III? i know it has to be baked but im wondering if i can use a hairdryer or somthing to just get it really hot so that i dont have to melt the fig to get it to harden :/. If i cant i dont think it would be too hard to redo but what other material would i use that i could work with to get the same result that would harden when/how i needed?

you need to get your hands on apoxie sclupt. no baking required, and it kicks ass.. 1-3 hr working window, cures in 24 hrs, and becomes hard as rock.

thx im gonna see what hobby lobby has today, i also remember seeing some Bake and bend sculpey that i think is supposed to remain bendable, if i could somehow get that to set w/o melting the figure i think that would be awesome, bendable hair and armor would allow more poseability, probably a pipedream though.

hah hagrid, i was thinking more like an un-dwarfed Gimli heh

Hopefully Jin won't mind me passing this along. I've not tried it, but it just keeps getting recommended.

Looks good so far. I've got one question, though. Are you just a talented sculptor or is it that easy? That is in NO way a dig at you being talented and very good at sculpting.

id like to think a little bit of column A, little bit of column B hah. the Sculpey clay is really easy to work with on the hair and stuff. I more or less just used long rolled out pieces, twisted some of them to give them alil wavy look, and then worked them intogether. I then textured w/ a fingernail, which i barely have so it didnt make the texture too deep

then i began experimentation on the frosting of the frost giant, i unfortunately learned a new lesson, he needed a blu wash prior to the gray i used to drown out the green which is now showing through :/

nevertheless......his boots, armor, and weapons are soon to come, if anyone else knows a cheap place to get icons hulks from besides ebay lemme know i could use a couple :) , im also open to any and all criticism or hints on how to make his skin tone look better, i cant decide how i want his final to look anyway, but so far as only my fourth full custom and only my second sculpt work, i think he looks pretty b'dass

Quick question what does LH stand for? Now let me see if I got this straight you're using a Icons hulk and transform him into a Frost Giant of Thor's world of asgard am I right. Anyways right off the bat it looks great so far. keep us posted on further updates.

I don't know if you have them in your area, but you can find those Icons Hulk figures at Value City for about $9.

I figure that's around what it would cost just to ship a figure of that size if you bought him on eBay...

LH stands for the Legandary Heroes line that took the place of Marvel Legends for Toy Biz when they quit making them and became Marvel Toys more or less. they were supposed to have a new line of Conan figs that had a giant Build A Figure. It may or may not be cancelled so i decided to make my own, more than likely he will be displayed with Thor than Conan though :)
