Rumour: Team Ico Collection: Q1 2011?

Rumor is that Team Ico is releasing both Ico and Shadow of Colossus on a single blu-ray disk ala God of War Collection. Supposedly coming next year.

Would be a day 1 buy for me.

I know they asked on the Blog what people would want to accompany the release of Last Guardian, and everyone said this collection. I would preorder in a heartbeat. Hi-rez better framerate of Shadow would be one of the best purchases ever.

    Indeed.

True classics in every way. I wish that Shadow didn't depress me so much or I'd play it more often.

Agreed with everyone else. I'd replay SOTC on the PS3 just to see it in beautiful high def.

If it turns out to be true, I'll bite like a piranha at the first sight of blood.

The boy, Ico, kills the evil Queen with his sword. Her death triggers the destruction of the castle and breaks her shadow control spell over Yorda. As it slowly crumbles to the ground, Yorda, still covered by the shadows but now free of the evil Queen's control, takes an unconscious/knocked-out Ico down an elevator and to the castle's basement. She places him in a boat and sends him adrift, away from the collapsing castle. Eventually Ico washes ashore on another island and wakes up. He gets out and sees that there lies a massive cliff face in front of him (supposedly this is the land from Shadow of the Colossus). Ico searches the beach and eventually finds Yorda washed ashore, now back in her normal white clothes. You see her hand slowly move, signaling that she's alive and well.

In an alternate/extended ending found in foreign copies of the game, you find watermelons on the beach for Ico to pick up and carry to Yorda. Upon taking a watermelon to Yorda, she awakens. The two children then enjoy the watermelon while watching the ocean waves.

I have doubts about this since neither game sold that well, but this would be Awesome if it did happen.

There's enough hype and hardcore fans of Team Ico that I wouldn't be surprised to see this come out. As others have pointed out, these games are some of the few that could be called 'art' and are a great example of what the medium is capable of. Sony would be down right stupid not to try and capitalize on two of the most critically acclaimed games to come out for their systems.

This rumor has been around for a while. In THIS ARTICLE back in September, Ueda said he was about to have a meeting with Sony to discuss this very thing happening, so there's a good chance it will.

And add me to the list of day 1 buyers, even though I already own both games.

Shadow was even released as a PS2 "greatest hits".
Also, Ico can be pretty tough to find for a good price if you don't already have a copy.
I saw a used Ico at Gamestop the other day that was going for $39.99.

Given that people that dig Shadow probably dig Ico and vice-versa--why not?

Yeah that's what I was basing my statement on. I thought ICO was greatest too, but maybe not.

    Not in the US.

In Europe I think ICO was re-released as a Greatest Hit/Special Edition. It had extra content like new hidden weapons, the watermelon ending, exclusive packaging & box art, and I think it even came with the game's soundtrack.

Luckily I managed to find a copy of ICO at a local SEARS (of all places to look for games:lol ) back when Shadow of the Colossus came out.

Playing Shadow first and then Ico really helped me notice more connections and make better sense between the 2 games. Especially their endings.
