Some a**hole managed to counterfeit my bank card and stole almost $1000 from my bank account this morning. I never parted with my card-- I suspect someone read the data strip off it in a retail store when I wasn't looking.

This is my rent money, my car payment, my bills. The bank is investigating so there's a good chance I'll get my money back but I won't know for abut a week. Wish me luck.

Good luck. More than likely they will be able to prove you did not spend that money. Something similer happened to me on a smaller level and my bank reversed the funds and investigated the situation.

That's your bank's job, and they are insured to make this right and get your money back to you. Good luck.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. This furthers my view that thieves and vandals should be executed.

Ouch. That sucks. But yeah, my understanding is that the bank and all your money are insured for this kinda stuff. Good luck man.

Not insured per se, but given the proper circumstances the bank should cover you.
There is a ton of money thrown into this every year.

At the bank that I work at, we pretty well have a fix first, investigate later policy.

I hope you get your money back pronto!

Wow, sorry to hear that. Hopefully your bank will right the situation. It's their job to.

    Good luck!

I had a ID theft a couple of years ago. Some guy made a cash transfer using my credit card (I didn't know you can do that) to his bank account to the amount of $3,900. Being that my credit line was around $4,000 I quickly reached my max and couldn't use my card for a few weeks (I had one card at the time) and had to file for fraud protection and fill the affidavit and all that good stuff. Needless I changed my account # and got another card just in case.

From my understanding, you should be able to get back your money especially since this theft means that there's a compromise on the bank's security features.

That really sucks... something similar happened to my mother a few weeks before christmas. She got the money back (they spent just a little under $3000). Took a while cause the bank investigated for a week first then we had to get papers noterized.... and then wait some more for the funds to show up. You'll get the money back though.

i had $89.00 dollars stolen from my account once, some one tried to buy something and northstrums *or what ever store* with my account number, but i just called the bank, and told them that that charge was not mine, they didn't believe me at first until they said the store, and i was like "what the heck store is that?" :lol  so they had to close my account, and made me reopen it. got my money back though.
