Since he would believe that the right to not being shot is greater than the right to owning a gun and that since Human guns are ineffective against the Decepticon menace that they have no use. He would believe that by doing this he would be saving more Human lives.

Except that obviously he meets resistance yet cannot comprehend why Humans feel they have the right to own guns if they're not in a war so to him all humans who resist are "bad humans".

I think it would be an interesting mix of Transformers sci-fi and real world politics.

I would think he'd encourage the right to bear arms, considering the political abuse and backstabbing that Megatron and the Decepticons represent in most of their appearances.

The whole reason the Founding Fathers put the right to bear arms in there is because they knew that someone in power would eventually abuse it and ruin the lives of every good American.

Does anyone have a ten foot bargepole? I don't want to touch this one with anything less.

"Freedom is the right of all beings."

How could banning anything fit into the catergory of "freedom"?

What about a nine and a half? Or would it have to be the full ten?

What!? I don't think Optimus Prime, in any iteration of transformers, is under the impression that he has authority over human beings. I can't imagine him trying to create/enforce "laws" for us. You're a little out in left field here.

Great, let's ban buses too, so I can live without the "fear" of being hit by one, and enjoy the "freedom" of safely crossing the street.

It would not be in character at all. Not because of the free issue but because as someone said Prime just wouldn't command the human race to do anything

No. I said it would be interesting if Optimus Prime and the Autobots came to the conclusion that humans kill other humans with guns therefore to protect human lives, the Autobots have to remove the humans guns. Yes, the Autobots would have misguided good intentions but i feel that would make for an interesting story especially if Humans would act exactly the same as we would do if a race of alien robots attempted to take guns from us.

The idea of machines protecting us from ourselves is over done already. Isaac Asimov covered most of it.

Gun banning is more a thing done by those who fear human freedom and want to control their populations. Perhaps this would make sense for Shattered Glass Optimus Prime though. Our Optimus would believe in freedom above all else, and that includes the freedom to use arms in self defense.

Megatron's motto of "peace through tyrrany" more aptly fits banning guns. Force people into peace with your power and taking away theirs. A world ruled by Decepticons would more likely not allow humans to arm themselves.

Is that like when Superman removed all nukes and left earth defenseless? great idea.

    locked.

Plus if we didn't have guns even more deadlier means would be created. I know they are now, but they are not as accessible as guns.

Those are not freedoms they are SECURITIES. There is a difference. Freedom is the ability to do something, securities are protections form something else.

To mention the famous quote "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security."
