when i was little i wanted breed of housecat called the 'maine coon' because i heard they grew to bigass sizes.

i've never seen a pic of one next to a human before until yesterday when i saw this .

now i want one again. the kittens are around £200-300 though, and it'd probably eat my current cats. i'll wait till i'm older and these suckers are dead.

*edit - whoops that's a bigass picture. i'll size it later after dinner.

I had a maine coon, didn't live too long though. They tend to have health problems from their size.

Growing up, my friend Neil had a Maine Coon Cat, and before it died, it had tipped the scales at 25 lbs. The damn thing was so fat, it didn't walk, it oozed. It was like pudding with hair.

I've got a 20-lb cat. Toby is like a feline bouncer. He makes other cats behave by his mere presence.

He often plays the part of Unicron in my displays:

You'd think it's just the angle, but his head is actually nearly the size of mine:

and strong and territorial as hell, too. I had one growing up. he used to chase dogs. I actually let him out of the house to go after three at once. he definitely hit 20lbs, but he was all muscle. no joke. he could jump like 6 feet straight up. unfortunately, he got kidney failure and only lived to be 14 years old. the only time we let him outside was when we attached him to a chain so that he didn't get hit by a car, so he was more of what you would consider an indoor cat. so don't go assuming an indoor cat will automatically live till 20.

I've got what I think is a half breed maine coon. She's pretty big but not that huge. Very nice cat though.
