So i just picked up wave two of the BW anniversary figures and much to my dismay i find that Rattraps transmetal areas are the same as the original release. I thought at toy fair they were just painted not crappy wannabe chrome that cracks for no reason? that is so :thumbdown  :thumbdown

    by the way Transmutate rules

I don't get the vac metal/chrome hate. It looks fantastic on figures and isn't all that delicate.

the main difference is that the original TM Rattrap used a more tan color for most his parts whilst this release its more white/silver

and i think the chrome looks amazing

i got my BW:Metals Megatron the other day and seeing that brand new chrome mixed in is just awesome

    i love it

and out of my older BW figs, the chrome is still intact and there's little flaking/cracking. just depends on how well you treat 'em i guess

it varies from figure to figure, but some of the TM2s, TM Rattrap and BM figures had a very bad kind of chrome, wich started to flake overtime

some of the worse offenders by general consensus (myself included), are TM Rattrap, TM2 Scourge, BM Ultra Jetstorm, among others

Mine pretty much started to crack suddenly, after some months exposed to air...

Interesting. When I brought all my BW stuff out of storage
to display it circa '01-02, none of the TMs were flaking. I
don't think I even knew at the time flaking was a problem.

I put them away again and when reorganizing how things
were stored in '04, I pulled out Rattrap and his tail practically
completely flaked off in my hand and his buttwheels were all
hairline-cracked. All the other TMs were still fine. They've all
been in storage for another 2 years now. I hope the rest are
    still okay.

I don't think it's hate, as much as concern that this TM Rattrap will follow in the flaking footsteps of a lot of original TM Rattraps.

Perhaps they've refined the process since, but the the larger version of Jetstorm from BM was extremely delicate in the respect. Literally, it started flaking away in my hands.

I had issues with my original TM Rattrap and that's why I am happy with the upcoming reissue. I have alos had a problem with BM Jetstorm. Beyond that I don't thin I have had too many problems with it.

Now see this is why I own 3 BW Metals Ravages. At least one is going to stay flawless. That one will be buried with me.

Yep, I've had flaking issues with the original TM Rattrap, but not with Metals Rattle, Wal-mart TM Rattrap(TM Packrat), Fox Kids TM Rattrap, or Metals Puzzle White Rattle, so hopefully the BW10th one is fine.

What is the difference between "transmetal" and vac-metal? I think Hasbro advertised on the packaging of GI Joe Sky Force vehicles and the G2 Mini-bots that they were "vacumm metalized"... the G2 mini-bots' "shiny-ness" seems like the same thing as the Transmetals. G2 Seaspray even had the same blue/purple problems that TM OP and TM Megs had.
