In the ep stringer faster, we see ratchet go in a energon mine , but the deceptions are using lasers to cut the energon. If it were flammable( which I believe it is) then it would explode , Woulndnt it?
Is this an error in the episode/seiries or has it been touched on ?

The troopers mining are actually named "Miners", so I like to assume their lasers are just for mining and not full combat-strength.

Should be said though, that's completely a personal assumption on my part.

The energon they were cutting was solid, perhaps it's only flammable when its in liquid form?

In Darkness Rising Decepticon Troopers blew a lot up when fighting Cliffjumper.

    It was the Cons.

OP: It's probably just a case of the lasers not being as powerful as standard combat lasers. Ratchet's laser torch managed to cut through a Con body but I don't think it has nearly the same power of the combat lasers.

IIRC, there was Energon being cut in Darkness Rising part 2 as well. But as stated, the Vehicons present were the Miner-class. Their lasers are probably designed to be used in cutting Energon, with the weaponizing being a secondary function.

I think there are certain materials that need both the right amount of heat and pressure to explode. Lasers may provide heat, and it may melt through the material, but if there isn't suitable force I think it would'nt explode.

The blasters that caused energon to explode previously seemed to produce more than just raw heat. They also produced pressure. Remember how Megatron's own arm got redirected by Arcee's blasters or how the cave in was caused by the plasma from Megatron's weapon. Their blasters therfore produce both heat and pressure.

Well that's my point of view on the matter.

And regarding the energon becoming flammable. Maybe it takes a certain temperature for the substance to ignite. Or mining lasers act a certain way to drastically reduce the chance of ignition.

Also, solid energon may only ignite at a far higher temperature than normal energon. Who knows what properties energon has in its different states. Or if the Cybertronians add certain chemicals into the mix during processing.

Energon is rarely shown to be flammable, just volitile. A laser is probably the only way you can cut it. It's not like they're just blasting away willy-nilly, they're precise and careful.

Aren't their own lasers energon anyway? They talk about how "energon is their ammo".

Raw Energon ≠ Refined Energon (or whatever they call the Energon they use)—the Energon they're mining clearly isn't the same as the ones they use, as seen in Stronger, Faster.

The Energon the Decepticons are mining here on Earth is sometimes exposed to the harsh conditions of our world such as storms, forest fires or even extreme heat. In their natural state, they appear to be just rock, something we ourselves haven't taken notice to.

I think its just the lasers being precise and only hot enough to cut through that causes the energon to not explode. With blasters or a fire, its more chaotic and hotter; thus the energon then explodes.
