Grimlock should be one of the Wreckers.  

 

Make him a decent character (i.e. nothing like most versions of Grimlock) and I'm for it.

It sounds like from the replies people would be more into someone like Dinobot over Grimlock. We could call him Dynobot.
Personally, I would like to see that. Angry, Shakespeare quoting warrior with maybe a triple changer deal (bike with sidecar/raptor/bot?). Could definitely set up some differences between him and the other 'bots.

I mean, Grimlock does seem like something easier and more relatable to toss in. I also like the idea of a massive truck of some sort. ...Or maybe some sort of Artillery piece or tank.
....Grimlock as a WWII era tank destroyer or something, scanned from a military museum. So he would have the giant and older than modern cars aspect down.

At least something with Grimlock would be original. Well, somewhat, anyway.

 

why not re-imagine the dinobots as a sports team from Cybertron. Either gladiator style like idw or maybe as actual athletes turned warriors like the coletrain from gears of war but give them all unique personalities. Grimlock - quater back ala american football, big hulking powerful and intelligent, swoop - sky diver, thrill seeker, sludge- basketball player , smart but maybe least intelligent of the group , slag - boxer/ ultimate fighter, very powerful and the joker of the group (maybe voiced by rampage jackson for instance). Obviously cybertronise the sports to be different and include jeopardy in the games and have them as the elite of the sports.

What I would do is have (at least for Grimlock) a monster=truck and robot modes, and then a bestial tertiary mode between the two. He wouldd not even be, biologically, a triple changer, but he wouldn't bind himself to having only two keyframes on his transformation, either. He'd go for whichever form can cause the more brutal attacks in a given situation. Very square/ wire-framey dino-bits, like those giant car-eating machines you see at monster truck rallies. In fact, I just figured out all the Dinobots but Swoop! I might go over that later...

 

Grimlock should have a dinosaur mode, imo. That was one of the most distinct characteristics of the Dinbots. And what set them apart from many of the other Transformers.

PS. I want Grimlock to be intelligent. They should find a way to give the characer depth.

I think he meant that by War for Cybertron via Hasbro's new Aligned continuity, technically there already is a Prime Grimlock. His post just happened to be directly after yours. Though I belive that the OP was referring to a version of Grimlock in the Prime cartoon.

 

I see. Thanks. Hmm well he does look the right build for a proposed sports star like a linebacker or quater back of NFL. I'd love to see that in a transformers show, a sports team as they're already fit and quite good in different aspects making a difference.

I agree that he should not be a dinosaur. It would be cool if he was a wrecker. Only way having a dinosaur body is if mech make some dinomechs and grimlock scans that.

 

Perhaps Mech could create Grimlock and the other "Dinobots" but they side with the Autobots. So they would have the dino like machine alt modes.

Of course, if Prime does do Grimlock, he'll have to mount him and take a dominant position. Otherwise Grimlock will never learn his place and try to take over leadership.
