I think the main reason is because he's a G1 character with a G1 name--I mean, I've encountered 5-year-olds who know who Jazz is, and not from the movie. Let's be honest--if it was Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Nightbeat, I don't think there would be as many people who would be put out if Megatron ripped him in half.

But it doesn't mean it still doesn't suck.

It doesn't matter what his name is to me. He was my favorite character, and he died without having much of a role in the movie at all.

Jazz is my favorite as well, at least G1 Jazz is. His movie death was meaningless, the only people who even knew who he was were the hardcore Transformers fans. Everybody else kind of just blinked and said "which one was that again?". If Bumblebee had died the general audience would have really cared because they did such a great job of building his character on screen, Jazz was a nothing character and thus Megatron fodder.

Everyone? Speak for yourself, you don't speak for the rest of us I'm afraid. As for killing him, it was necessary to show that this latest incarnation of Megatron was different to the rest - he wasn't afraid to kill an Autobot who got in his way.

I'm not heart broken about Jazz's death. Sure, he was cool - but I don't want the same Autobot cast in the whole series of films, some have to die to make way for new characters.

Ratchet should be the next to go...

Why would someone be up in arms about his death? It can't be the bad guys that die all the time. Megatron was one bad ass - and unfairly HUGE - evil alien robot. Jazz getting pulled apart and Bumblebee getting his legs blown off made the story more interesting and believeable.

Nah, his death seemed pointless because he didn't do much before he died. I hardly cared about the character so why would I care about his death?

Wait a minute....'different from the rest'? I don't get it. Name a Megatron that was affraid to kill an Autobot who got in his way. Ever seen the original movie? Megs was resonsible for killing a lot of Autobots.
My reason for not liking Jazz's death was because it was so meaningless and pointless, and Jazz never stood an chance. At least in the game he dies with some dignity.

I wasn't up in arms about Jazz's death when it occurred. I mean, I was upset when it happened (who wouldn't be, unless you don't like the said character), but I was never up in arms about it. My parents think that Jazz's death was some sort of symbolism to the death of his G1 Voice Actor, Scatman Crothers, not because he was unpopular. Besides, how many Transformers (Autobot or Decepticon otherwise) do you see lurking about in the background against the focal characters before they get noticed?

It has nothing to do with the name. It all has to do with personality, the way he died and how his character was able to stay almost intact from G1 cartoon to the 2007 movie.

Honestly, speak for yourself. I honestly don't care that he died in the movie. I'd rather have him die than Ratchet or Ironhide.

The only Autobot I could care less about being destroyed is Wheelie. Anyway, Jazz came back in the action figures and that's good enough for me. (No Transformer can really die if it's my collection.)

Who says Jazz is actually really dead - you won't kill such an popular character so quick without resurrecting him. Same for Megatron, I mean in every TF series it was about OP against Megs and the beloved characters. Hasbro has surely some to say about....

I'm not up in arms at all. It was a subpar death for a subpar character. Seems fitting to me.
