I think I discovered the source of VW/Porsche's anger towards converting robots...

In spite of my childhood disdain for Gobots, I have been tempted to get one of those modern versions of Cykill.

Maybe I'm just a sucker for transforming bikes, but I've always liked his design.

And to think I always thought Bug Bite was just this cute little Go Bot when I was a kid, and was too little to realize Psycho wasn't actually called "Future Machine" (which in my young mind meant it was a time machine and thus, obviously, a good guy, since good guys are super advanced don't you know?) :lol

The Thread "debate" mate. The sheer, joyless world-class pedantry that can take the fun out of what should be an interesting exercise in What-if and Who Knows.

Joyless is certainly the word. And perhaps boorish. Maybe we'll all learn that the news thread is purely for toy sightings and behave accordingly. Maybe we can even keep the toy discussion just for discussions about those pesky types who don't report toy sightings. It'd certainly make for a fascinating and dynamic forum.

Maybe we can understand that a discussion might include disagreement and not just "I have this idea, everyone tells me I'm awesome and nobody ever disagrees".

Maybe we can also understand that while there's nothing wrong with a little speculation, just letting random speculation go haywire despite evidence to the contrary is what leads to rumors and urban legends.

And maybe we can avoid strawman arguments. It is a world of boundless possibility after all.

    Haywire? Good grief.

That's a Waffen-SS officer's uniform, probably an Obersturmfuher - I'm gussing from the shoulder boards. The collar patch we can't see is the actual rank insignia. It might be an Untersturmfuher, which is one rank down. So equivalent to a US 1LT or 2LT.

Red trouser stripes were never used by the Waffen-SS. They were used by the Wehrmacht, the regular army, for general officers. Of course, almost everyone's general officers did the same thing...

But overall I'd agree that MEgatron's colour scheme of "red, black and white" does evoke "traditional enemy" for me. I associate the colours with Imperial Germany and Nazi Germany; the fact that they're also the colours of Amsterdam or Yemen doesn't register. How conscious Hasbro was of this back in the day, and how much of it is simply that they a) look good on a gun and b) are opposed to Optimus' red white and blue, I'm unwilling to speculate. :)

The Volkswagen Group has owned Lamborghini since 1998. Volkswagen also owns Bugatti, by the way.

Obvoiusly, VW doesn't care about "war machines" anymore, probably because they figure blockbuster films that make billions of dollars are great exposure. Not to mention the licensing money they get from the toys.

Just because they're part of the group doesn't actually mean they are required to do things in the exact same way as VW. For all we know, Porsche doesn't have the no-war policy because of VW, but their own choice. Lamborghini could quite possibly be independent to quite an extent and able to make their own decisions on that front.

It's pretty common for companies that are part of an umbrella corporation to operate largely independently. Really, it just depends on the corporation's rules and terms of purchase behind the acquisition of its child companies.

Ah thanks. Sorry, did not read the whole thread. I honestly never cared about alt mode being real or imagined cars, so I never much read into the subject before.

The Porsche Jazz's deco was based on is actually a privately owned model, potentially creating yet another hurdle to overcome with licensing.

I thought the Martini 935's are all owned by Porsche themselves? And there's the fact that they can't use the Martini logos because it's a toy.

It's believed that Porsche owns the model of the car, yes, just not necessarily the #4 Martini deco which belongs to the people who currently own the vehicle. Takara could always make an approximation of the deco, but like Exhaust proved you have to be really careful even with that. Anyway it's only been suggested to be the case in the past, but it's very likely part of the hold up on MP Jazz.

Is the WWII issue another reason why it's not out yet?

We don't really know. Anyone who says otherwise should link to solid sources. I'd love to see them.
