Since episode 3 (I think) I've being hearing more of a G1-sounding Megatron. Maybe it's because they are lowering the amount of modulation (I think that's the word). I did a comparison with him in episode 2 and there is a big difference. I heard a faint G1 Megatron in his first appearance but he sounded rough - like in the films but that seems to be going.

Compare episode 2 with episode 3 and you'll probably hear it too.

That's because he's getting angrier! Welker uses the G1 voice when he gets mad.

Yeah, when he's calm he's got that deep and powerful voice like WFC/movie Megatron, but when he's angered he starts to sound diseased like G1.

The TFPrime Megs voice definitely isn't grainy and its a bit lower in terms of tone. Maybe when he raises his voice it gets close to G1 but other than that no.

I haven't heard G1 in his voice. I love what Welker has done with his voice for this series Megatron. I'm not a fan of G1 Megatron so I'm more than happy this is the work he's put in, which is great!

Wow nothing that I didn't expect in this thread half it's cool and half g1 hate...

I will add to the he's done a fine job so far.

I just wonder why Mr Welker always takes so much more flak than Mr Cullen.

I think because he's trying to find a Megatron voice that's comfortable, but in line with the character in Prime. Lots of Voice actor's flucuate early on as they find their groove.

People are right in stating that it has to do with his temper. Regardless this is probably my second fav Megatron. No first. It's a fierce battle between Welker and Kaye for the title.

Yeap, ya just can't forget the good old yeessss :lol

I actually like the fluctuation it adds a little something extra to the character a little extra dimension.

I can hear the G1 Megatron, but not so much that it takes away from the new voice. Excellent voice for this incarnation of Megatron.

Funny thing. I just Saw episode 3 - 5 and noticed the same thing. His voice is a bit deeper, but I definitely heard G1 Megatron here and there. Mostly he sounds different, but he's there. I did not expect to hear him and now I see this thread and I feel confirmed :)

I've said this elsewhere, but I think this new voice sounds like the G1 Megatron, but matured. Much in the same way Cullen's Prime is now much more mature then it originally was in G1.

I'm enjoying it. I think the character also, from a writing standpoint, feels a lot like G1 Meg, but very much darker.

He does sound pretty G1. I'm not really sure if the G1 Megatron voice matches his character design, though. It feels odd hearing that voice come out of that body.

Oh good, I'm not nuts. I thought I was the only one that heard a bit more of the G1 Megatron voice showing up in Prime. Now if we could just fix Starscream to be a little bit more high pitched and energetic like his G1 self, which strangely enough I can see that happening later on.

And Soundwave. Haven't heard a proper Soundwave in a while.

I actually kinda like Starscream's voice. And Soundwave is starting to warm up to me.
