£1000. That's what I'm looking to scrape together.

If you go, plan on a grand minimum. By the time you pay for your Primus package, exclusives, food, and hotel, that'll be about it. If there's a lot going on like in Rhode Island last year, take more than that.

Here's how I'd breakdown the budget (in USD):
    Primus package $350
    Attendee exclusives $250
Hotel $130 per night (less if you room with others)
    Food $50 per day
Flight $500 (I'm guessing I've never flown to the UK)

I over estimated on some parts, but I look at it this way if you budget that much and the actual price is less, you have more money for the dealers room, or better quality food.

I have never gone myself either and I live in Sweden. would be nice to go , the big money for me is the airplane ticket but since I dont collect new stuff I can spend the botcon item money on other things.

If you're lucky it'll be on the East Coast and the flights will only set you back around 250 - 300 quid.

I'm hoping to make it but this whole "not announcing a date or location" bullshit is seriously fucking me up.

This year was almost 2 grand for me. I spent almost $1,000 on the Primus packages, Hotel room, gas, and food and I had another $1,000 for the dealer rooms and parts parties. It can actually get very expensive.

Myself and Gen1Fan host a parts party. I've been doing it since 2000. Basically it is in our hotelroom which will be at the hotel the convention is held. Anyone can showup and contribute. Bring stuff to sell, buy stuff, trade, or just showup and talk. Last year we had raffles, prizes and stuff. A lot of people showed up, at one point we had at least 25 people in the room. I posted pics here if you wanna look. I personally got a lot of good deals.
We always post here with news to refresh people.

The parts parties are definitely the place to get the good deals. People showing up there are just regular folk typically, so people tend to sell cheap and buy cheap. Always good times :) .

Hahaha, good point. Regular as in, not a bunch of expensive dealer people who think every toy they touch automatically make it worth hundreds of dollars, or people who think eBay is a good guide for the minimum something should be priced. Maybe "down-to-earth" would have been a better term.
