I ordered an Iwata HP-CS airbrush and it should come in on Tuesday. I'm pretty excited to have a nice airbrush after using my $7 Harbor Freight deal.

I've been backing up on my customs because I really wanted to use an airbrush on them, now I'll have one.

    yay me.

On a sad note, this was paid for by the selling of my copies of Absolute Authority volumes 1 and 2.

but on a happy note, this sale also allowed me to buy a grain mill for making beer. I figure I'll get tons more use/fun painting stuff and making beer than having those book sit on a shelf.

Airbrush came in today and I'm still trying to get used to it, I have a horrible cramp in my hand.

Anyways, I tried some stuff out on a Jetfire leg for a a project I'm working on and I really liked the results.... I just need to become a better airbrusher.

    Totally worth the investment.

It may be hard to see in the picture, but I was giving the leg panel-line shadows. I'll see if I can take a better picture later.

no need, can see it quite well. :)  white usually hides detail, yet his myriad of panel lines are quite obvious here!

What technique are you using. Airbrushing it a dark color first then spraying a lighter paint from the middle out?

Yeah, that would be it. Kinda tough to get the hang of, but I'm still learning.

Started grey and then putting while in the center of the panels, then sweeping over the whole thing in white again. It looks much better in person.
