I need a program that will allow you to retrieve what you have already emptied out of your recycle bin. Anyone know of such a program?

wow, that might be classified stuff--basically you're trying to retrieve deleted info., which is often only done for security/legal reasons.

Just google "erased file recovery program". There should be tons of them.

Or he screwed up and erased something he didn't want to - there's nothing classified about getting your files back.

You're right....I was saving my photos to a disc. Stupid me didn't check the disc after I burned it. I deleted them and emptied the recycle bin to make room on my pc. I didn't realize until the next disc I tried to burn that it didn't work. I lost every photo I uploaded to my pc from 2006!!

This program works like a charm as long as the data hasn't been overwritten yet. Even though things are emptied from your recycled bin, they're not actually gone yet. They're just marked to be deleted. This program will recover any files that have been deleted such as what you're describing as long as this is an Windows 2000/XP/Vista machine.

    ^ What he said.

Its always good to get a program to fill your hard drive with random data if you ever decide to sell your computer. Or just take a drill and go though your hard drive, that works too.

I've been told that it can take up to 10 of a HD before data cannot be at least partially recovered.

Good open source program for that as well. Darik's Boot and Nuke or DBAN

35 passes is the max. I think DoD spec is 7 passes. None the less, 7-35 passes should suffice for pretty much anyone, unless you have some highly sensitive data, in which case, thermite is your best friend.
