My brother let me have his Xbox for a while but it got the red rings of doom! My brother is going to kill me if I don't fix it!

Is there any help you can give me? Please, I really need help.

 

From what I know, you can't fix RROD; only Microsoft can. Sorry.

 

If he registered it go to xbox.com and look up the warranty information. It'll show up under support with his gamertag signed in. From there you can request a repair and print out a pre-paid shipping label Pack it up and ship it out and you'll get a replacement in about 2 weeks with a card good for a free month of Xbox Live Gold. Initially it will say that the warranty is expired if its over 1 year old, but once you select the 3 red rings option it should go through (as long as its not a near launch console that hasn't red ringed before).

If he never registered it then you'll have to, if he's ever signed into Xbox Live with it though it some times automatically registers the console.

 

Welcome to the world of Xbox360. Just realize that it isn't YOUR fault the xbox broke (unless you hit it with a sledgehammer or something). My xbox360 has broken down with RROD SIX times! Yes SIX times! The only reason why it hasn't lately is because I play my PS3 a lot and hardly ever my Xbox360 because I know it is going to break down sooner or later. Anyway look into the warranty and do a search for RROD online to get some solid answers. Also realize that I like Xbox360 but it is a VERY flawed video game console and I am sure your brother realizes that too.

 

Im currently awaiting the return of my Xbox from Microsoft....My first RROD was last week...

 

I think what's sad is how all these years the 360 is out, and they never bother to try and fix this problem. I mean, they got the tech and the know how.

well as some one who got the RROD I can tell you that the towel trick on a console that's not even yours is not a smart thing since some times it will just cook your console.

I'd just phone up Microsoft if its a newish model they will do the whole thing for free

 

First, are you SURE it's the RRoD and not just a Red light error? Some errors like the E73 (I think?) cause some red lights to pop up, but not truly THE RRoD.

it only happened to me once, it made me so mad i dragon punched the old lady who lives next door. luckily she had a cupboard full of magic honey, so after hiding the body i took some and poured it into the top of my 360, and now it works fine.

 

ugh all 360's are destined to die from the red ring of death. it isn't your fault, just do what the others tell you.
