I've wanted to get a Blaster figure for a while and now seems to be a good time to make up my mind as there are few versions available. Options; 1. Vintage Blaster (doesn't need to be in pristine condition, but has to be complete with no broken bits) 2. TFC reissue Broadcast (have seen one for around 5000yen MIB, but need to import from Japan) 3. SDCC/HTS Blaster 4. Device Label Broadblast I bought Encore cassettes #2 so I have Steeljaw and Amhorn already. Basically I need a chest they can snuggle up to What do you think is the best option for me considering the price and availability? Thank you for reading
Can't say since I don't own any Blasters, but here's what I'd do. Search the Feedback section, watch some video reviews and see what's available online. Take everything you find into consideration and make your decision based off that. Good Luck.
What about the WST? He's pretty neat. Of the ones you listed I'd say get the G1 mold, but then it would come down to tapes- do you want it to come with any? The SDCC has 3 of the 4 I think, so that'd be the most efficient buy. I think the TFC only came with one, maybe 2. Been so long since I looked at those.
The SDCC release is only a single deck (so is the original), but that's probably your best bet for cost and completeness.
I actually just packed up and took pictures of my copy of the TFC #21 Broadcast. PM me if you're interested, and I can give you the details.
Personally I don't think any of the Blaster toys are really very good. I'm holding out for a Generations-type figure of him.
^Yeah at first I wasn't very interested in Blaster. He looks too tall compared to Soundwave. I guess it's because of their different alt mode, but I wish they were similar in size. Thanks everyone for your input. Robotkingdom has SDCC Blaster for $69.99 and I can buy Device Label Broadblast for under 5000yen...I need to consider the shipping though. Sidecutter, thank you, I'll PM you tomorrow
I would say SDCC, he comes with 3 cassettes(though it should have been 4) has a cool package & is available now(though you'd probably need a middle man). From what I've seen/heard about Device label, he has some leg issues with the wires, both the wires prone to possible cracking & his legs always being bent.
I don't have any Syd. But from what I've seen, DL Blaster looks really cool. And I know if you did a gallery of it, it would be pure awesomeness.
I need a new Blaster to replace my beat up G1 with a broken antenna. I was thinking of getting the DL version, but starting to think now that it's not worth it. The G1 probably fits in my collection of MPs and Alternators better than DL Blaster would. Even though it is about Alt size, I think I'd be better with another big G1, despite the brick factor. I have all the Autobot cassettes, so I was thinking of just getting an original G1 on ebay, but so many have broken doors or missing parts. I may just go the easy route and get the SDCC version. Don't need the cassettes, but I may prefer to have the silver accessories for Ramhorn, plus it has the cool outer sleeve for the packaging.
Device Label. He's awesome, can store cassettes, and has a function. Damn poseable to boot. His light-piping is brilliant too.
^This will never be as big as or similar in size to: So actually, alt mode wise, Blaster is huge compared to Soundwave, so i am down with the difference. and personally, the difference in size is a G1 hallmark and endearing. it is the "scalies" or nitpickers that don't like the size gap. Soundwave was a Walkman, a portable, handheld cassette recorder and Blaster was a boombox. if you want a Blaster fig, i'd say go with the G1 mold. but if size skewers your collection that much, get the DL.
