"Being emo is one step beneath transvestite."
Well, it IS.
What EXACTLY does it mean to be "Emo"
I've heard that word for months now,but still don't know what it means
From the page in question:
Pretty much sums it up. Although with a lot less venom and swearing than I would.
*hates emo kids*
Agreed, me and a friend from my now former work used to joke about them. It's gotten to the point that when we see one, or a group of them, it's just too damn easy, so we don't even bother.
I don't harbour much love for emo kids myself.
Granted, I tend to dress dark myself, but at least I don't walk around pretending I want to slit my wrists just because Good Charlotte says it's cool...
With all the actual suffering and sadness some people really do have to go through in this world, the last thing I want to hear is some whiny, pseudo-rebellious kid acting like his life sucks 'cause his mom grounded him...
When ever I read/ hear people talking about emo this is the face that pops up in my head.
Emo Philips, you best recognize.
I remember seeing Emo Philips on a UK chat show years ago; he was almost painfully funny.
Emo Phillips RULED in UHF!!!
Is my face red!
If my son were emo, I'd slap him around a bit and give him something to really cry about.
seriusly thats....never met one.
You're lucky, I guess.
It doesn't seem like the whole "emo" thing would mesh too well with Mexican culture. I imagine there are emo kids in Canada though.
Bah. The term emo as it is used today has nothing to do with its original meaning. Virtually all of the bands that created the sound that led to the perceived need for a term to define it are long gone, and all that's left is uninnovative bands that do little more than mimic what the now mainstream stereotype dictates emo is 'supposed to' sound like...which wasn't something that cohesive in the first place.
That the word has morphed into some catch-all term for kids that wear funny clothes that you can now buy at the mall is just fucking weird, IMO.
Welcome to the club. The same thing has happened in the past to punk, alternative, etc., etc.
Quoted for truth.
*proceeds to beat the crap outta some random emo dork*
And I have a seething hatred for emo music as well.
You should come around to this coffee shop I go to some times, every one that works there is one.
Only the fake depressed ones. Interesting fact: Real goths mock emos even more than the rest of us. And for the record, even the original emo bands sucked. Simple Plan is possible the worst excuse for music I have ever heard.
Yeah, they suck. And they're from my hometown.
Oh, okay, so I think I get it:
Emos are wannabe goths, who are wannabes themselves.
Well...that's sort of like making a photocopy of a photocopy, isn't it?
Separate names with a comma.
