It was fun, it was different, it was unique, the aesthetic was just like nothing else. I mean I dig a lot of the more complex toys from recent lines, but going back and messing around with my Animated figures...there's just something about them ya know? And I really miss having that on the shelves at the stores. Now we just have realistic/semi-realistic stuff with the movie line and Generations. It's kinda dull.

I have never felt this conflicted about a post ever. A part of me wants to disagree with you... but for the most part I do agree. The new lines, I admit are very very dull. But at the same time, so was animated...

I disagree. I'm glad Animated is gone. Now if we could only get rid of that movie aesthetic....

Remember when the Botcon theme was announced someone said something about it's not going to sell out because it's animated. And low and behold. The boxset had the most production run and it broke a record in selling out.

I like some of the animated molds. I just remember tru trying forever to get rid of the ones around here. They could still be on the pegs ... haven't been there in a while.

I don't really miss it, although I didn't follow the show, I do like the toys and feel they gave us a pretty nice batch. Did they miss some characters, sure. But it could be like WFC thus far where they only gave us 5 figures. Would have liked a few more like Voyager Thundercracker and some of the Takara releases that we didn't see, but I was starting to get bored with it.

The only nice thing about not following the show and collecting the figures, when new ones were announced, it was all new to me.

Animated was one of the most polarizing Recent TF. I'd admit I didn't like seeing them on the shelf. They were too kiddy styled. But a few years after, I bought all the TV characters. What a turn of events

Saw a bunch of Electrostatic Soundwaves at Toys 'R' Us today. Seeing them besides all the HFTD and Generations stuff reminded me how much I hate Animated's packaging. Very kiddish. I know this is a line for kids, but I mean, seriously? Also, it reminded me of how I never found Animated Rodimus and I had a sad :(  So, I guess I don't miss Animated so much. However, I LOVE the packaging for BotCon's box set this year. But that retail packaging... uh... I hope TF: Prime's is better.

Animateds Packaging is my favorite since it has a bright lively look while others have a dull rough look.

To me, it's just the opposite. I think it tries too much to look lively. However, that didn't stop me from buying the toys. Has to be my favorite toy line.

Animated Rodiums was one of the last figs i bought for my animated collection(if i could only get the exculsives) annd then recently i picked up the hunt for the decepticons rodimus....holy poop its awful in comparison..dull, blocky and feels so cheap and nasty.

HTD Rodimus is a good inch shorter than Animated, has 50% more kibble on show and has absolulty no character.

I'm glad the focus on the character has been brought across from animated into prime otherwise I may have had to stop watching.

Bring Back Animated as a side line, Dump Classics/generations/etc, I've seen more of those cluttering up toy shelves than any animated ones. There is still a demand for animated (among the fan community at least), clearly shown by the money people are easily willing to pay for japan exclusives.
