I hesitated on this guy last night, had an offer from the seller for $765 shipped to Canada.

It's BONE WHITE, but missing Cog's gun and one arm, which would be quite difficult and expensive to track down. I've been trying to pick up a complete Fort Max but not super expensive for a while.

So you guys think I made a big mistake in pausing on this one or that it's not that unique a deal that should come around again (but maybe not missing the parts).

Trying to go about buying such an expensive figure is no easy process, especially on the nerves...

Yes, that's expensive. The arm and cog's gun will cost you more than 50$ if you ever find them..You didn't make a mistake at all. Besides, I think that seller was reported here a while ago I think he was selling a Grand Maximus with Ko parts/Brave Max parts or something like that.

The purchase was made after 137 views, so that means this is even not close to be a good deal :)

I thought it was but then I am thinking in £ so I suppose if I was paying in $ it is a bit expensive on reflection, my bad :)

Yeah, that's crazy expensive for a loose Fortress Maximus... bone white or not. The fact that he's missing Cog's arm & gun (pieces that could cost you in the $50-ish area each) also should bring his price down more IMPO. I'd only pay that price for a MISB complete one (and only the Japanese one with the Master Sword at that). If you watch around the American release of this figure goes for around $500-ish complete & with box frequently. I've been doing plenty of research because I've been in the market for one for awhile now (CR Brave Max just isn't the same you know?), but with the heightened interest (and in some cases renewed interest) in Tranformers due to the movie it seems that you've got a lot of noobs on eBay that are willing to pay some crazy prices for items like this... especially if the seller really hypes up the positives (such as how bone white this guy is... which actually really is impressive for a loose Fort Max).

Well, you are not likely to find a nice, complete FM on the internet for less than that price - But, if you are paying that much, you should be able find one that really is 100% complete.

I don't think you missed out on anything passing that up. Since you are considering that range of price and not trying to cheap-out, expect to get a toy you will be satisfied with. I'd hold out until you are sure you are getting exactly what you want.

Passing on buying a toy that costs nearly $1000 is NEVER a bad idea (unless it's some crazy-old thing you can sell for $1,000,000).

A lot of them seem to be going for huge amounts now. There is even an auction for the box and foam that is at $228. That's crazy. I will have to see if I get lucky and catch a deal on Fort Max because I would never pay $700 for one. I will just be happy with my Brave Max.

standard price for complete fortmax is around $500-$600, newbies and desperate buyers tend to pay the inflated price. There was a FM box with BROKEN foam sold for $500+, now that's just a stupid purchase.

$500-600 price was reached about 5 years ago... It stalled there for a while, but for a really nice, 100% complete toy, market price has been higher that for the last few years.

$760 not complete is not a steal. You’ll find one better. This does remind me of the time I missed out on a MISB USA Fort Max. The box was pristine, and I mean pristine. It had a BIN of $1500 and opening bid of $1300. No bids for it so I thought maybe I could at the last moment place a bid of $1300 and win it. Well, that’s what I did but someone at even more last moment than I outbid me with $1400. I would have paid $1500 but thought I could get it for $200 cheaper. I’m still kicking myself to this day (this was 3 years ago) as that would have been my holy grail of holy grails.

Yeah $500 for a good shape complete one is pretty much history now. At cons (like Botcon and TFCon) people seem to be trying to sell him for around $1000 now (yikes I know!) and on ebay he seems to be all over the place (I've seen complete w/out box go for near $1000 and w/ box and foam but missing a few pieces for over $1000). I've been sort of hoping to pick up a boxed complete, unyellowed one for around $800ish...

Okay, I admit that I might have been a tad high in that asking price. But as far as I know, it was the only complete FM available at Botcon last year! :scalper

Well, there's only a couple on eBay at the moment... and only two are MIB, but both are going for between $500 and $750. What's interesting is there is also a complete one that's loose (good condition too by the looks of things) that's also going for about $500 and there's another loose one that's ending soon that's complete and around $660. They're all American releases too... I'd expect them to hit around $800 to $900 for the MIB ones and maybe $700 for the two loose (possibly going to $800)... unless there's some noob that starts crazy bidding and pushes it over $1,000... which I've seen happen on eBay a couple of times.

Myself, I've been looking around for a MIB Japanese Fort Max complete in bone white condition and it looks like I may be paying in the $900 to $1000 range for one... sure you can find them cheaper, but if they're complete there is usually some yellowing on Fort Max.

Though, I will say that last year a friend of mine picked up a MISB (supposedly never opened and when he got it sure looked that way... no double tape or anything and the stickers hadn't been applied yet) off eBay and he only paid $600 for it. Also, my cousin got a Japanese version off eBay for $700 (it had been opened and displayed, but it was bone white and had all parts, accessories and pamphlets with it). So, if you practice a little patience you can get one for cheaper than the normal going prices.
