When I saw the skull crawler monsters in the new Kong movie I was a little sad about how much they looked like one of the alien creatures in the dumb book I wrote years ago. Another thing I thought was pretty original, and eventually see someone else come up with nearly the same thing... BUT, I thought if they have a toy of that thing, I could totally make a custom figure of my Hetaraen creature! Turned out, I did find a toy of it, so I made this. Just some original character stuff, but I thought I'd share here anyway. Hetaraens are sentient jungle aliens that swing around in the super tall trees on their world. They mostly use their hands and arms for climbing and getting around, so they use their tails for holding things, among other stuff. The little robot armadillo and weird lady, are Vortex and Jynic. Jyn is a hybrid of human, hetaraen, reathlok, and thearion DNA, so part of her genetic makeup is this ugly thing. I only ever drew one really crappy picture of the hetaraens so I'm attaching that too. It's a scene from the story. Also attaching the WIP pics. Had to know, that with your sculpting skills this would come out looking great. Thanks for the WIP pics, as I wasn't sure the extent to which the figure had been modified.
You are right, that is a really crappy drawing. The sculpting is awesome though. The figure is weird, but looks super cool.
Lol! Yeah I wasn't happy with the drawing over 10 years ago when I did it so I just scanned it onto my PC back then, slapped a real forest background on it, then colored it quick and sloppy using filter effects and stuff to call it good enough and move on. The hetaraens aren't supposed to look cool but I'm glad you think the figure does. I was just trying to come up with something weird that looks like it could have evolved far from earth on a planet that is mostly jungles.
