split lip, you are wrong, the masterpiece are designed and produced by takaratomy, only mp-01 was designed by both hasbro and takara. There is no ifs ands or buts, that is how it is, it is like alternity toys, they are made just by takara

for the majority of transformers hasbro and takara work together, but masterpiece is takara's thing

 

perhaps you can combine all 3 company names & thank all 3.

Lets be fair, Takara are great at toy designs but Hasbro have really started listening and thinking about their releases recently, and they are responsible for Autobots / Decepticons, Cybertron et al, if it wasn't for Hasbro and by proxy Marvel, they'd just be a bunch of cool ass toys with no back story or media that probably would have faded into obscurity long ago.
So, you know, joint effort. And I to praise MP Grimlock, especially in a general release which costs less than £100.

 

Dude that's not what I'm saying. All of the figures in the main lines are a joint venture (Classics, Universe, Movie 1, ROTF, Animated, etc, etc, etc).

Specialty lines are a different thing (like Alternity & Masterpiece, etc). Hasbro does work with them on Masterpiece, but it seems in a limited capacity.

I didn't say they license the toys, just the brand itself (see my signature), because of it's origins (despite Hasbro being the one to make the line what it is today).

Perhaps in part. Sales for either company benefit the line as a whole, so the success of TakaraTomy's sales on Transformers and Hasbro's sales on Transformers benefit the line as a whole (for both companies).

While at a toy store yesterday, I was admiring this MP Grimlock and I suddenly missed my small Grimlock collection which I sold when I decided to focus on Bee. *sigh* Maybe I should get at least MP Grimlock for now...

 

I'm some what tempted by another one for alt-mode. But then again, isn't that what G1 and WST figures are for? But still, the articulation of the Masterpieces are awesome. Wish we had mini masterpieces.
