Dear forum.

I just opened my encore omega supreme and was surprised at his size. I expected that he would be a larger toy. I love the toy. It just surprised me. I am glad that takara reissued him.

No, I did not. I remember him fondly from the cartoon and never had him as a boy.

 

There's the problem. He would have been bigger when you were a boy!  

 

I had him as a boy and he's exactly like I remembered. How big were you expecting? Fort Max size?

I kinda feel where you're coming from. Although I had Bruticus as a kid (and tons of them since) I thought the Encore gift set was gonna be bigger. I was thinking something like the Predaking giftset. I know Predacons are bigger, but they's what I had in mind.

 

Hmmm, even as a kid I thought most of the combiners were disappointingly tiny. Especially Menasor, which was barely a squeak taller than G1 Megs.

And what is with a bike being the same size as a helicopter? Looking at Groove and Blades, here. Or a tank and a jeep being your legs when you have a space shuttle and a helicopter for arms? What? This is highly dubious.

I have had that happen to me a couple of times.

 

I always try to check a video review. Even with video games, once you see it in action it might not be as cool as you thought it was going to be....

 

i only had the tank when i was little, so i kinda knew what to expect when i got one now, i was actually impressed with his size when fully built

 

I was a bit disappointed when i got him for Christmas- back when i was a kid.
the box was huge to me, but i didn't think about all the styrofoam padding everything in there.
But i didn't care- the dude walked, he ran around the track, and i was just happy as hell.

but these days, RESEARCH is your friend. Google, Youtube, TFW2005 are your drinking buddies.

I learned long ago not to just buy a TF because he was named "Prime" or "Megatron".
The Unicron Trilogy taught me that, lol.

And size ain't everything. I like and appreciate the sizes of most TFs. i have a few molds i prefer to be bigger (Ransack, Stratosphere) but no biggie to me.

 

I'd actually say the same thing for all the Encores, as I discovered with my adult re-introduction to the world of plastic crack aka 'relapse'.

But despite the size issue, I have fond childhood memories of seeing some other kid busting out his Omega in all his foamy-box glory and being super-jealous. So when he got Encore'd I knew I HAD to have him!!

 

Never had Omega in the G1 days or picked up the Encore, but I recently bought an Omegatron and another figure both of the same mold and I was pleasantly surprised to find him a bit bigger than I thought. In my mind I'd always seen Omega about a third smaller than he actually turned out to be. Same with Sky Lynx. I'd always though SL was about half the size he turned out to be.
So for me there was some added happiness seeing these things in person for the first time.
