    I

    Can't

    Make

    Pancakes.

I know this sounds like a joke, but I just tried to cook up some pancakes, and I seriously make pancakes worse than anyone in history ever has. I already knew that I'm a horrible cook, but this is just absurd. They were blackened on the outside - totally soggy on the inside, and they wrinkled and fell apart into a million pieces when I tried to flip them.

For the love of God, someone give me a scholarship to Pancake University. I'm serously sad about this... the last of my pure maple is gone now because I wasted it on my freak pancake blobs.

I just plain suck when it comes to flapjacks. :(

That makes two of us. After several failed attempts over the years, I have given up trying to make pancakes. So don't feel too bad; you are not alone :D

Whew, I thought I was the only one. I think we should start an organization for people like us. The International House of Pancake-Disabled Individuals... IHOP-DI.

I would never make pancakes if I lived near that badass breakfast restaurant in Athens where you pay by weight, but I can't remember what it's called. It's in a shopping center, though, near an ice cream place.

Anyways, never give up on your pancake dream, and GA FTW!

I can make pancakes, but I'm always wracked with insecurity about how they'll turn out. Usually, they're fine, though.

That said, I once almost died trying to make toaster waffles.

Pancakes are hard to make , It usually takes me a few patties before they start cooking right.
Too impatient and not waiting long enough for the skillet to heat up I guess.
Plus I like to peak underneath too see if that sides done even though you're only supposed to flip them once.

    Thank god for Eggos

Unfortunately, I can't say I've ever been there. What shopping center is it in? There are a lot of ice cream places in shopping centers here.

    What is the place called?

Dammit. I'll remember it. They've got chipotle cheddar cheese hashbrowns that are the bomb. Ehh...I'll check with my friends who actually live there.

Pancakes are easy, you make the batter, which is like eggs, milk, and bisquick, and then pour some onto a griddle or frying pan, wait till you little bubbles on the top and flip. What's so hard about that?

not that this is a cooking club or anything but I might be able to help ya out....or at least you can try this for your girlfriend.

    Bisquick
2 cups of bisquick in a bowl
    1 cup of regular sugar
    mix them up a little

    next add the wet stuff,
    2 eggs
    2 cups of milk
if you have some vanilla extract, I just pour a little in, I dont measure.

Mix well and try and get the lumps out. The mixture should be soupy.

Preheat the pan on medium heat let it warm up, add some butter to the pan.

pour in the pancake mix. Bubbles will rise to the surface while the pancake cooks. Once the bubbles look dry (you'llknow what I mean when you see it) flip em.

Once the pan is up to temp the pancake wont take long to cook, and you'll most likely need to stand over the stove and cook while others eat, or you could make a whole batch at once and then sitdown with whoever you are eating with.

waaalaaaaa easy peazy, and you re-gain superhero status

That sounds like it'd be an interesting story.

Pancakes are so easy it's freaky. I can't imagine not being able to make them. I can make the "instant" kind, like Bisquick, without even being fully awake. I can make from-scratch pancakes, and from-scratch corn-pancakes fairly easily too, and have been making those since I was like eight years old.

Of course, the good news is that if you can't make pancakes, you'll probably never be expected to cook anything if you get in a relationship. So, awesome, you get to sit on your butt while your partner makes the food.

Your heat was too high, and you want to Pam the pan each time you start a new set. If you put the heat to about 7-8, that should work. Yes, it will take longer, but they won't burn nearly as easily, and cooking takes time.

You are not alone good sir.

I usually have my girlfriend make them for me. I think I finally figured out how to do it passably for myself, but hers are soooooo much better (plus I love trying to get her to do stuff for me *power trip*).

I always seem to screw up scrambled eggs somehow. My girlfriend usually ends up making them for me. She does so much better than I do.
