The games are obviously non-canon to the movies, but Shockwave's current movie-verse design (IMO) sucks.

He's just too bulky and blocky.

I really hope that they re-design him for TF3.

They will. Sideswipe had a game model designed as well. It's safe to say those kind of extra designs are not canon :)

We will just have to wait and see if Shockwave actually stays a cycloptic robot :lol

It's probably a given that Shockwave is not going to look like what he did in the game.

They definitely will. That design is so shitty and not bad ass enough. BAY being BAY, his Canon is not big enough

The in-game rendering just makes it look bad. Besides, Shockwave was never a badass. It's actually a pretty nice piece of work. If ILM were rendering and animating it, it'd definitely look a lot better than you could ever hope for from a game. There are designs that actually ended up in the films that came out worse.

There's some detailed design drawings here:

    The Bad Flip Blog

Good concepts, solid piece of work.

I can't see them doing something that G1 for the movie, but we'll have to wait and see what they come up with. They'll probably start from scratch.

Wow. You're right. The concept sketches are WAY better looking than the in-game render. I mean it's still a little too blocky for my tastes, but it's definitely a step up.

Yeah, it is a little blocky. I don't think it's entirely in keeping with the movie aesthetic, but as with a lot of the stuff developed by third parties during the production of the first movie, the movie style wasn't as well-defined and most of what they got to see was rough work.

I think for TF3 they might want to go with a larger altmode. I'm not sure exactly how big an Apache is, but they could probably use something with a little more mass for an important character like Shockwave.

Remember, Bay will get his cut of the movie bot sales...that said, I'd imagine Shockwave will have a movie look that Bay wants ...just throwing it out there :D

They will. The movie designers pay no attention to the "expanded universe" characters that came with each previous movie.

Besides, the game-Shockwave is just too G1 for the movie universe. For TF3, they'll probably give him three eyes, a mouth and make him transform into some hot new concept car that nobody will ever see outside the Detroit Auto Show.

Not having the cyclops eye would be a Shock, no pun intended.
I think purple might be asking too much... look at how Starscream ended up with no color cues from G1 and Megatron wasn't that white either.
Kind of a miracle that Soundwave had any blue.

It's almost a given. A lot of the movie's "expanded universe" stuff isn't accounted for in later movies, and for all intensive purposes, the "new" Shockwave will probably be an entirely different character than the boss from the game in almost every way.

And really, only the toy had significant amounts of blue. In the movie itself he was almost totally metallic grey. There were blue lights on him, but other than that...

I don't know. They might find a way to work in some purple. Even if they don't though, it could always be seen as a sort of unintended homage to "Shackwave". :lol

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the game design - it's too spindly in the limbs compared to the body for my taste. I'm confident the posts here are correct and it will be totally ignored for TF3. I'm just hoping he stays a cyclops and retains the giant gun arm. I can take or leave the purple.

Holy hell that's AWESOME! I'd love that design in the movie!

And that Hasbro gives us an equally awesome toy of him...

I've seen that one before. It fits the movie look and it's high quality work, but personally I'd want something more distinct from Megatron. Botmode is okay, but I think the altmode is terrible.

How bout some more jetformers too? Shockwave could make for a very interesting A-10
Thunderbolt II/Warthog since that jet itself basically is a gun with a jet built around it
