What are you smoking my dude?
there realy should be a downvote button for statements like this.
He ruined the public reputation of Transformers and you still want him back?
They should’ve dropped him after DOTM
Just because trash makes big money doesn’t mean it’ll continue to do so
and now we’re in this predicament with messy continuity, bad audience perception of the franchise, dropping ticket and toy sales, and Hasbro contemplating a reboot.
In an age where we’re getting the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, and etc,
people expect more competently made blockbusters and they’re seeing the difference between Transformers and all those other franchises.
Change with the times or get left behind.
Unless Bay decides to change his ways big time, bringing him back would be a regressive move.
This is like wanting back a girl who has cheated on you numerous times again and again.
The thing about fans is not that they can't be talented and do good work. It's that most fans treat their source materials as these sacred cows, and consequently they are very rarely willing to push envelope, even though pushing the envelope is what makes the best franchise fiction, Transformers included. Beast Wars and Beast Machines were great for pushing the envelope.
If Knight can look beyond his desires as a fan and focus on making something a little more daring, then we might have something great. If he is simply focused on recreating every existing thing from Transformers he loves, then it very well may be fun and enjoyable and even well executed for what it is, but probably not as good as it could have been.
I'm merely open-minded at this point. I'm not gushing and going gaga over what I've seen so far. Nor am I disappointed either. I just need to see or read more.
It made money in the past so nothing needs to ever change isn't a very good argument. Disco was massive in the past but you aren't going to climb to the top of the charts with a disco album these days. The Adam West Batman used to be huge but you wouldn't pack movie theaters with that sort of Batman now. Baseball was once so popular that in World War II you'd challenge the identity of someone in an American uniform with questions about baseball, now most people can't even name a player on any team.
Looking at how the domestic box office kept dropping and then the international box office got dropping there just isn't enough demand for Transformers to keep doing the same old things under Bay. People don't care how much money your past films made they want a feeling that your next film will contain the stuff they want out of a film now.
The fact that we have a different director, one known for making great family movies, has helped the hype train in my observations.
No disrespect to Bay, but we’ve already seen what kind of Transformer movie he would make- 5 times now. I’m glad he’s stepped away from the helm to being just a producer.
Definitely helped the tone too, the Bumblebee trailer was very refreshing.
Wanting more is what led to movies Like AoE and TLK and You STILL want more?
No the man is done with that. (should've been after TF3)
in other words (to paraphrase Chris Crocker)
And now you need an ointment to clear up that "parting gift".
I would love another Age of Extinction-type movie with a soulless, cubeforming Galvatron voiced by Welker, cynical, misanthropic Autobots, and all sorts of alien weirdness.
Horrible... movie was trash... big mess of cgi ...... conspiracy theories, anti government , pro illegal immigration, anti masulinity. The designs for the bots are all ridiculous. They fit more into the Lord of the rings than transformers. It's like they purposely put males as weaklings led around by females.... stupid liberal nonsense.
We need Michael Bay’s Optimus Prime! Those faces aren’t going to rip themselves.
Sure, why not?
Honestly, what does it matter? Transformers will forever be associated with mindless blockbusters that fills theaters between the films people actually want to see at this point.
But whatever makes money is all that matters anymore.
I almost had a heart attack while laughing so hard when reading these comments LOL!
please no politics... its not allowed on this forum...
If it's just for TF6 and it is definitely for sure the final movie in the series, I wouldn't mind him coming back for consistency's sake. That's the most I can muster for the idea.
Ten years of masochistic embarrassment is enough thank you.
Let's try for a good Transformers series this time instead of cringe-worthy stupidity and let's see how that goes.
I'm not sure if I'd use forever with movies.
There was a time when it seemed like Superman was going to be the big blue friendly boy-scout forever. Then someone got the idea of hey what we need is emo Superman. Now Superman seems to be known for the horrible attempt at covering up the actor's 'stash.
Ha ha, I can even remember the days when Marvel was making movies so bad they had to try to bury the film instead of let them get out in theaters. Now every studio wishes they had something like Marvel/Disney.
Who knows maybe one day we will get a production team that will make us forget all about the days when Transformers was the poster child for what's wrong with Hollywood.
