This is something I wanted to post on here for a while, so here it goes:
I have a disease called spina bifida. Its where my spinal cord connected to my legs cause my legs to curve in and for my walking to look like a penguin. (dONT LAUGH, IT SUCKS.) and now i have to wear stupid leg braces, of which ill try to post pics of later.
Advantages: get to go to front of lines of roller coasters
    get special treatment at school
Disadvantages: everywhere i go, people stare at me like im a fucking alien, I HATE IT!
I really dont like when little kids ask me what happened, or when old people stop me in the mall, and say "I feel sorry for you," I feel like they're mocking me.

So, as you have read, i might not have a serious disease like cancer, or AIDS, but it's still a disease. So, if you or anybody you know has spina bifida, please post. PLEASE NO NEGATIVE COMMENTS, LIKE "WHO THE FUCK CARES?" OR "DONT WASTE FORUM SPACE WITH THIS CRAP!" THIS IS SERIOUS, AND I WANNA SHOW WHAT I REALLY AM!

My wife used to work with people with Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida of Western PA. She loved it there, but the drive was too far for her at the time.

    Right on MetalRyde,
I had a good friend in school that has it, he was a blast to hang with, ppl always said stuff to him, and he would blow em off, but I could tell that it bugged him, but don't let it, ppl like that have problems of there own and want to project it onto others.

I had a friend who was born premature. Basically his whole bone structure is off-kilter. He's a decent, if sometimes timid, fellow. I wouldn't stare at you or kiss your ass. You're all right. Don't sweat it.

I have spina bifida occulta I also have a penguin type walk and due to a rare muscular dystrophy that I also have, called Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy I used to walk on my tiptoes because of contractions in my achilles heel I also cant touch my toes or bend my elbows more than like 90 degrees. Im lucky to make it past 20 and have been told I will need a pace maker at a young age...im only 24 right now.

Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I hate the comments people make also and I agree with you 100% on the comments that people make, we know we have issues and don't need to be reminded about it.

The thing that pisses me off the most is whenever I go to a doctor with an issue it's instantly blamed on the muscular dystrophy.

..sorry not trying to hijack your thread just wanted to share also.

Tfan, you're dealing with an actual problem-causing disease, and you're handling it very maturely.

    I salute you.
