I bought animated Ratchet, I love the figure, he's great. But I'm to firmly set up in my geewuney ways, so I bought as a substitute for classics/universe Ratchet (I just hate universe Ironhide mold, too many panels to fold, and it still looks like it will colapse when you blow at it).

Now I want to replace the head of animated Ratchet with something more appropriate for classics/universe.

    I have these candidates:

    Energon Checkpoint/Rodimus

    Energon Tow-line

I personaly think that the Checkpoint/Rodimus head is almost spot on. The problem is, will it be too small for his body?

I don't own Rodimus or Checkpoint, so if someone can tell me how will that head look on ani. Ratchet's body, I would much appreciate it.

In case Rodimus/Checkpoint head is too small, what be a good substitute head from a voyager figure?

I say checkpoint/rodimus, and paint the yellow parts red.

or you could buy a universe ratchet for the head. Or maybe even universe prowl's head.

Which would be cheaper than replacing Checkpoint.

Is there any voyager figure that would have an appropriate head?

So... what's wrong with Universe Ironhide/Ratchet?

I love mine, despite it's apparent flaws- which are all quickly and easily fixable. I'm only going with Henkei Ratchet because I prefer the color scheme (read: no black).

The alt mode is like an acordian that was stretched, with all the creases and cracks. And the goffy, "movie style" legs.

With you on this, I'll pick up Henkei and Uni. Ratchet as he's my second favourite character, but they seem like a missed opportunity. I've passed on Ironhide so far, saw him on a shelf about an hour and a half ago, but every time I look at him I just can't bring myself to buy him.

I keep my TFs displayed in bot-mode so the former is of no issue. The latter, those legs are actually nicely articulated and holds poses and support weight really well.

The only real problem I had with Ironhide was his blue face, which took me all of 2 minutes to fix. And Ratchet doesn't have the blue face problem.
