Peter Cullen was right there in the studio already. He could have done the voice deeper. It would have been so cool for movie IRONHIDE to have had his g1 voice. There are reasons to keep a character other than just a name, right?

Perhaps he did try, and the filmmakers simply decided that Jess Harnell's voice was more suitable for this new version of Ironhide.

Or maybe it's like Welker with Megs: maybe Cullen can't do the voice as well as he used to.

    Who knows?

I guess I just don't see G1 Ironhide's voice fitting with his movie incarnation's look. Sure, it's deep and tough sounding, but I think the voice he's got already is good for him in the movieverse.

Many of his voices sound too similar.

The same could be said for Welker to an extent.

The Movieverse needed to have it's own identity IMO.

To an extent I am kind of asking if they ever gave a reason. To me the movie voices are all deep and breathy and sound alike. And I think PRIME and IRONHIDE sound nothing alike.

The mere fact that Ironhide and Wakko Warner share the same voice actor still boggles me.

Now I love that Jess guy especially as wacko. I just still think that IRONHIDE in the movie's proper sounding voice does not go with the character who is in so many ways still IRONHIDE. For me. But gun toting rednecks are a way of life around here lol.
At least he is close to the original character. BB and SS are so far off for me at least with IH he's still similar to his original character.
And the huge truck is way cooler than that datsun van

Personally, I am happy that Cullen did not voice Ironhide in the movieverse. G1 Optimus Prime and G1 Ironhide sounded too identical for my liking.

Cullen's Ironhide voice wouldn't have fit at all with the movieverse Ironhide, IMO.

I agree. I just couldn't see it working all that well.

I'd also agree with the assumption that Cullen may not even be able to do the Ironhide voice anymore. I've noticed even his Prime voice isn't exactly like it was back in G1. His Prime is still awesome, but you can kind of tell he has aged.

First off, it's spelled AHRNHAAD. Second, the movie ones cool collected Clint Eastwood voice is way better for the loveable gun-nut.

I dont see a problem, as much as it would be cool to have him do the voice, the new ones not too bad. The weird accent is a bit odd, but it still fits

Well cool it's not the first time I have been alone in an opinion

If anybody does hear officially why cullen didn't play IH I,d like to hear it
But till then we can assume that the new voice is better for the look. Just not to me.

    Exactly.

And it stops people from saying it's cheap using the same voice for two robots.

Eh, dunno about that one. Maybe because G1 Prime and Ironhide sound very similar a lot of the time yeah, but you got to remember that the same guy that voiced Movie Ironhide also voiced Barricade.

But Barricade wasn't Optimus Prime, or a major speaking character.

Both Optimus and Ironhide had the larger speaking roles of the Autobots across the two movies, I think by then everyone would've picked up on the fact that it was the same guy.
