I got the last of my Christmas presents from a friend and she gave me this:

    The DC Comics Encyclopedia

    from DK
I haven't read it yet, gonna start later today.

i flipped through it and the artwork and layout is great.

I may take the dustcover off, frame it and hang it.
i love Alex Ross' work. his characters are as human as i have ever seen.

It's Alex's art work exclusively? I may have to pick this up if that's the case. Love the other DK guide books and Alex's art is just another reason to drop the cash on it.

No. the cover is Ross, the art inside is original from the source material.

the book is pricey- the dustcover flap has it marked at 40.00, but Amazon has it down to 26. *USD*

    but i am liking this.

I got this one last month when I joined the Science Fiction Book Club. It was one of six books I got for a dollar. So I got a $50 book for 17 cents.

I have the first edition and love it. To bad it's already out of date. Thats the problem with comic encyclopedias. They need to make updated ones every year to keep up with all the changes.

I have the first edition as well and it IS an extremely impressive tome (info stops just before Identity Crisis).

It features the revised continuity of Crisis on Infinite Earths/Zero Hour, so just before Infinite Crisis made everything even more convuluted.

There are a few notable omissions: the Wonder Twins get no mention (despite existing in post-Crisis continuity) and Constantine only gets a brief mention in regards to his team-ups with Swamp Thing rather than his own article.

It's a fantastic resource, even if places like Wikipedia have kinda rendered it obsolete.

Congrats, jorod. I've flipped through that before and it's a pretty nice book.

I don't think that appearing in five issues of Extreme Justice :) rolleyes2) makes them noteworthy enough to appear in a fairly thin encyclopedia.

Constantine is considered to be from Vertigo, which has its own version of this.
