Finally, after months of back and forth with the brass at work I was promoted from a production position to an international shipping and customs coordinator. I was overlooked the first time because I did not speak Spanish. The Spanish speaking customers that we do business with prefer to speak English, lol. They hired a Spanish speaking person last year and then fired him 8 weeks later because, he had many 'issues'. Basically, he could not do basic math and had next to no computer literacy at all.
I have a 4 year business degree with over 18 years customer service experience and have worked at this company for nearly 4 years excelling on the production side. They were hesitant the second time because they said I never did shipping before. I told them, well, I can learn. I have a very versatile background and have always done my job well. Well anyway, they offered me last Friday a temporary position to help them through August on a back log of orders. After training and observing me for 2 days on the company's Adage system, they finally conceded and offered me the permanent position based on how well I was learning their software and completing orders. So now I'm very pleased and happy. No more 12 hour swing shifts. It's Mon thru Fri. 8-4:30 with holidays off!!!!!!!:D

Oh yeah, on the plus side, I will be trained 4-6 weeks at another site by a very single and very attractive female.:D  Being single at the moment with no children myself, I think that's a bonus.

    Sounds good for you.

Although I think you should check first that the attractive female in question is single too. Otherwise very awkward moments may ensue

She most definitely is. I know for a fact.

Actually, it's funny because during a phone interview that I had with her. She was asking where I lived, if I owned my own house, and did I have any children. She would then apologize and say that she forgot she wasn't supposed to ask personal questions. Well, anyway I'm the utmost professional and I don't partake in office fraternizing. That being said, there is after hours.

I don't have a story because I heeded the warning. Basically, if you have an office romance and it goes south, it could make work very uncomfortable. Plus you have the chance that if she's sour about the breakup, she could claim "sexual harassment" and get you fired. There are alot of women out there, go get one that does not work for the same company you do.

Unless the company specifically says you can't, I see nothing wrong with it.

I was in a 3.5 year relationship with a coworker, and I've fooled around with several others. The fact is, you meet the most people at work and have the best chance to get to know people there. Relationships are inevitable.

As long as everyone is mature, and can act like adults if things don't work out, then hell, I say fish off the company pier all you want.

    Thanks, Doctor Phil. :thumb

    Exactly.

Thanks. Yes it is. I am now training and everything is going well. However, there are those few individuals at my company that don't like to see others get ahead. I just ignore them. I'm not one for negativity.

Well, It's been nearly 3 months of training a few times a week with her. She works at another site and will be going into sales as I assume her position. I asked her out to dinner and she accepted. So I guess I'll be getting ink on my hands.
