I bought an Ultimate Optimus yesterday at Walmart and the cashier asked if I wanted a 1 year replacement plan. I laughed and asked her why it was offered. She said because the product used batteries. I told her no thanks.

Usually you get offered replacement plans for consumer electronics, not for toys. Have any of you encountered this?

Anything over a certain dollar amount will trigger that at the register from what I have seen.

I got offered a plan for my Masterpiece Skywarp. :lol  I think if an item is over a certain amount of money, it triggers the replacement plan option.

You can technically get one for everything over $10 at TRU if you ask.

Ditto here with Skywarp. It's most likely the cost of the toy that triggers this.

They're actually supposed to offer the replacement plan on anything that requires batteries, or has electronics, regardless of price I think.

Yeah, but the real humor is, if say 9 months down the road, your MP fig needs a replacement, and whoops, they aren't avail anymore, where does that put ya?

Yep, I got offered the Walmart replacement plan for the leader class DotM figures, as well as a Rescue Bots Fire Station Prime.

Speaking of which, if any of you guys are looking for the Fire Station Prime, check out Walmart.

I picked up mine for $34.99 from there, which I later found out was a pricing error, but the regular price is $39.96, which is still $10 off the other store's retail.

    Thanks for the replies.

Seems like a dumb idea. Like others have said, they can't guarantee a figure will be around for another year. It's pretty damn unlikely.

This has popped up for me when I've bought a cd before. When I got my ultimate prime tonight it came up with the same thing.

I would've taken the plan. It was probably what? 3 bucks?

If you think about it though you could really mess with them on stuff like this... Buy toys on sale/clearance wait a year and bring them in to get fixed. Throw a fit that they don't have the exact toy available for replacement and get what ever is equivalent at that time. Alot of work to save a few bucks but I can still see it happening

Yeah but it would end up encouraging you to be dishonest to take advantage of the system.

I don't see myself breaking Ultimate Prime and wanting to cause a squabble a year down the road.

Oh it was FOUR dollars. :p

I dunno, four bucks is four bucks. I don't see myself taking advantage of this replacement plan.
