    Hey all,
I know I'm not much of a poster, but I've been an avid lurker and TransFan for many, many years.
Anyhoo, I thought I'd break radio silence to share this with you. My Parents were clearing out the attic and asked me to have a last look around for anything I wanted to salvage (I'd rescued the toys years back ;)  ). So I came across this, I'd hoped it still existed and I can tell you I'm really chuffed to have found it!
Heh, I'm showing my age now!
Please excuse the handwriting on it...I was, like, 9 or something!

    And the rubsign still works!

Unfortunately I think the cardboard base is long gone ;( .
Anyone else a member? Did you get this in the US or was it just a UK thing?

I was a mail off thing, you collected points from the packaging. Must have been about '83 or '84, before the movie. It was advertised in the comic.
You got the card, a poster, some 'documentation' and this HUGE cardboard base, which was actually pretty cool. It had a repair bay with sliding door (kinda' what would now be a CR Chamber) and a computer screen with the red clear plastic on you could slide Tech Specs into.
Damn, I wish I still had the base!

Heh, very true, your memory goes a bit when you get to my age!
Actually, thinking about it, it my have been post movie or at least '85. I vaguely remember Ultra Magnus being in the advert.

    Here we go:
    S.T.A.R.S - Transformers Wiki - Teletraan I.
Interestingly (to me anyway) it looks like the 'base' was advertised in the US as being a role-play communications centre rather than for the toys...
...whereas in the UK is was defiantly advertised as an 'Autobot HQ'.
Of you look at this pic from the US advertising...
    http://yojoe.com/archive/inserts/images/stars4.jpg
...you can see that there is a figure sized computer console/table sticking out and the room with the sliding door had 'repair bay' detailing.
Such a pity I don't have it anymore.

    Ah, sweet nostalgia.

It's too bad most companies quit offering stuff like this at such an affordable, reasonable membership cost. Kids today get jipped -- all they can do is sign up for postcards and emails, and a coupon for like a free tiny ice cream cone on their birthday. And adult collectors are exploited with grossly overpriced magazine subscriptions.

This brings me back, thanks for sharing!

Brian and Co. should totally consider something like this for the Collector's Club membership cards. :3

I think ownership of that card means you need to thrash Decepticons any chance you get. I'm hoping to see many photos of your Decepticon toys decimated as proof of your sworn duty.

    Good luck soldier.

Wow, as soon as I saw the picture of that card I remembered mine! I haven't seen it since I was about 5 or so, but I definitely had one! Thanks for the nostalgia rush!
