Another quote thread by Ironhide what could this lead to...new character intro ideas is the correct guess. Ive done one for Lockdown and that got a nice discussion so now it's time for an idea I think might be more popular.

It has already been made clear that the Wreckers exist in this continuity and that Wheeljack is hoping to "round up the old gang" or something similar. And there is your perfect intro for none other than the bad-ass scientist sniper of calculated DOOM! I may have over-emphasized that but everyone knows how IDW drastically changed this character from a harmless and jovial scientist to a hardened and deadly marksman and member of the Wreckers. This representation could work very well for him in my opinion.

Not only would Perceptor's design look amazing in the Prime aesthetic (especially if based upon the RTS mold) and he could be a specialist in psychological science to counter Ratchet's medical abilities. This could be used as a helpful guide to restoring Prime's memory and get the Autobots out of some tough spots. However, in my opinion they would have to kill off an Autobot to introduce another Wrecker so we might lose Bulkhead or Ratchet (can't harm R2-B2 and MY PARTNERS ARE DEAD can you Hasbro?).

But this would be a neccassary sacrifice to bring Perceptor into Prime and give a character that hasn't been getting any love apart from a figure in a short-lived line and a cool role in the comics a broader audience in Prime. This isn't just introducing Perceptor, this is bringing his TV appearance back to life after not appearing in his proper self (no minion combiner craziness). Thoughts?

Yes, but not as a sniper. What IDW did to him totally ruined his character.

Seriously, not every Autobot and their grandma needs to be a badass or a Wrecker.

    Agreed.

Bring him in as a scientist, one that will often butt heads with Ratchet.

Wheeljack, while he may be awesome is more a full time badass rather than scientist, so Perceptor could be the the legit scientist who doesn't have much fighting experience.

I haven't read many new TF comics, but it sounds like IDW turned Perceptor into Marvel Blaster... Interesting?

Actually one of my favorite long-time TF aspects that seems to have been completely jettisoned my the movies and this burgeoning Aligned Continuity is the fact that the Autobots are NOT warriors, but beings who fight only because they have to. And nobody typified that more than G1 Perceptor. He was the one of the guys who really didn't fight who really did not fight.

So of course I'd want to see some of that concept brought back.

I'd also like to see a living Cybertron again, but that's a whole other conversation.

If Perceptor is in Prime, he should be voiced by Stephen Fry.

If they can make him look good, and fit into the show well, I wouldn't mind seeing him. Especially if he then got a great toy too.

I would LOVE to see Perceptor show up in TFP! He's one of my favorite characters, and he gets very little face time outside of the comics (and not much in the comics, really). There are a million and one head-bashing tough guys, we could use a few more gentle types because they're so few and far between. I could deal with Sniperceptor, but Wheeljack seems to be covering the role of scientist who can also be badass with a weapon, so sniper Percy would be a bit redundant.

Agreed! It makes sense that many of the Autobots would get battle hardened over eons of fighting, but the basic defining concept of the faction should be a group of bots who prefer peace.

Well, he technically already was introduced into Prime. Remember Bulkhead muttering about "Perceptors Paradox" during T.M.I.? :p

But seriously, I could go either way. It'd be neat if he appears, but I won't be upset if he doesn't. I do agree with the statements that he not be a badass soldier should he appear. Perceptor should see about as much combat as Ratchet, maybe even less.

As much as I like how this badass Perceptor sounds, I feel that maybe he should be more of a scientist and one with no combat experience like in G1. This could be a good focus for the show where it explores how some Cybertronians on each faction's side aren't fighters and what they do when put into that situation. There could be a small sub-plot in the show were Perceptor learns to fight a bit, maybe even how to use a sniper rifle.

Since scientist usually have opinions on scientific theory it'd be great to have Ratchet and Perceptor getting into debates about topics of science from Cybertron.

Perceptor: No, the dinobots died out in the invasion of quintessons!

Ratchet: Pfffft, Highly illogical. They were more likely destroyed by an EMP blast.

I think he should appear, especially if he has the same alternate mode as his RTS toy. :D  I also agree that he should be a scientist, and not be out in the field. He should work back at base with Ratchet.

Why not have the best of both personalities?

Introduce him as a peace loving scientist that occasionally butts heads with Ratchet over nerdy stuff...

But in a later episode have him go over the edge from the continuous fighting. I forget which book it was - but seeing Perceptor build his new chest plate and targeting monocle was really cool. I see it as his breaking point and it made for a good character development.

If he got introduced, it would be cool if he at least uses a sniping weapon and fighting style. Better than the typical blasters everyone and their mother uses in the show.

Exactly, then we know he is already known and could easily be brought in. I also agree with those saying Perceptor should be a simple scientist instead of a sniper but I love someone's idea of Perceptor later going over the edge and becoming a sniper. This Perceptor has so many possibilities!
