So, when two of my friends saw DOTM, they kept thinking the Mexican Standoff Scene was a bit racist since it was a Mexican Standoff and they were Mexicans.

    I don't think it's racist.......would it?

OMG Stop with these threads, people. It's not racist. Whatever your asking about. It's not. There isn't hidden agendas from the writers/directors/film companies to slip in a racist comment and try to get away with it!

Mexico is a country not a race!!!

What? That's stupid. It's not racist. A Mexican Standoff is a real term. The movies didn't invent it.

I seriously wonder if everybody's brains just flatline every now and then and they make ridiculous accusations like this.

I'm half Mexican and I Love that
Line haven't they ever heard of a
    Mexican stand off before :thumbs2:
    Definition:
A Mexican standoff is a slang term defined as a stalemate or impasse; a confrontation that neither side can foreseeably win.[1] The term is most often used in lieu of 'stalemate' when the confrontational situation is exceptionally dangerous for all parties involved.[citation needed]
In popular culture, the Mexican standoff is usually portrayed as two or more opponents with guns drawn and ready, creating a tense situation. Neither side is willing to shoot for fear of being shot in return, yet neither side wants to relinquish their weapons for fear that their opponents will shoot them.

Mexican standoff is a term that refers to "a confrontation that neither side can foreseeably win."(Mexican standoff - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Unless its origin is from mexico, other than the name i see no way in how it can be connected to mexicans. Therefore it is not racist. Also, it can be applied in any situation that fits the term, regardless of race, which is yet another reason why it is not racist.

no. Damn man, this racist stuff is getting to the point where you either can't take it seriously, or so extreme that it's racist to even mention it's racist.

The term "Mexican standoff" isn't a racist term. According to TV Tropes, the term originated in the 1800s in Australia, as a reference to politics in Mexico.

anybody who calls racist on something like that should question their IQ so in other words, tell your friends to question their IQ

Better yet ask them, do you even know what a Mexican standoff is?
