i joined this board not long ago and used it to sell most of my g1 stuff from my childhood to buy the classics styled figures and felt pretty bad when i let go perceptor, kup, hotrod, utra magnus, scourge, wreckgar and quite a few others in one group.

but with the reveal the sheild line emerging as a HUGE HOMERUN for us g1 fans i dont mind anymore

anyone else in this boat besides me?

Hey, good for you man. I'm not in the same boat, but it's nice to keep getting these updated figures from the G1 characters.

I don't mean to kill the buzz, but that homerun has been going on for a few years. RTS and Generations is really just a continuation of Universe and Classics.

It's cool that we're getting more obscure characters, but really that just means they're beginning to scrape the bottom of the barrel. I don't think they can keep updating the same characters.

    You always kill my buzz.
I think your right about the bottom of the barrel. unless they go into different size classes and give us stuff like metro, sky lynx.

To the OP, this new line does kick ass.

Classics have eliminated my need for vintage TFs since 2006. Aside from a few old favorites.

I'm not sure how the bottom of the barrel is even in sight, let alone being scraped. The emergence of names like Axor and Banzai-tron and Leadfoot for current figures only illustrates the depth of the G1 roster as opposed to the more recent series/lines that basically contain fewer than 20 personallities. If what is meant is that we're getting more obscure G1 homages or names, then that's true...but dipping in to the Action/Micromaster pools shows how large and expansive the G1 universe really is. Bottom of the barrel is more accurate for the movieverse which just keeps adding prefix names to those p.o.s twins and Bumblebee again and again and again and again. Tuner, Battle, Cannon, shut up already. Every TF incarnation adds a few new faces to the roster but for the most part, all worthwhile TF types originated in G1 and have just been refined and tweeked since then.
I'm not trying to make a Geewun arguement, but it''s more or less the truth doods.

As much as I like the updated homages, IMO nothing will/can replace the originals.

I'd rather have the originals. The new ones aren't the same sadly.
