Not really Earth-shattering news, but I frontpaged it as a final send off to Revenge of the Fallen. :)

I saw that earlier today, but it's a relatively worthless list, as Avatar will almost certainly pass ROTF within a few weeks to officially end up as the biggest movie of 2009.

Gah, bollocks. Avatar most likely already out-grossed ROTF, the figures are just not in yet.

(Btw Cameron did refer to Bay and TFs in an interview indicating just how shallow his characters are and how much he concentrates on action only - I agree completely).

I am not suprised that ROTF did really well. It was two hours of brainless fun and escapism.

Actually Avatar is probably the top grossing movie of the year. Ah well.

While there's no doubt that Avatar will beat ROTF, it will beat it in 2010, not 2009.

I'm glad it wasn't or I'd have never heard the end of it. Go Transformers!

While this is good news for the Transformers as a brand and franchise, I'm afraid it sends the wrong signals to the director, writers and producers. Just because the movie made a zillion dollars doesn't mean it was any good.

    This.

But honestly I still can't understand how such a crappy movie made so much money. ROTF was just bad movie making.

I wouldn't say Avatar will beat TF2 yet. The real test will be AFTER the holiday season ends this weekend and people are no longer flocking to the theaters after having time off from work & school.

Avatar is doing extremely well but has a way to go.
