In a movies series with Gorilla-Devastator, unicycle Arcee, and weird ball bearings Decepticon that gets vomited out of Ravage's mouth...I'm frankly finding it hilarious people even put WheeljaQ's robot design in there for contention. Then again, I don't hear many people complaining about black double cannon Ironhide not looking red and being a redneck or silver skater aka Sideswipe not being red with a yellow twin. At least...not anymore. I guess it's because they did "bad ass" stuff whereas WheeljaQ did what his character profile always said he did.

 

they gave wheeljack friggen hair lol who cares if they would of gave him swords to make him badass. He has HAIR! And a mustache!

 

I'm surprised the term uncanny valley is being used in reference to robots.

 

Using that logic...BOO on G1 for Alpha Trion actually GROWING a mustache from flashback to present day! HISS on Wreck-Gar and Scourge for hitting cyber-puberty!

 

He's the one design that I absolutely hated, and I felt that he really didn't do much in the film for me to like him at all. So I was actually glad that Barricade killed him.

This....his head was a little to small for his body.

 

It was.....unique. I didn't hate it. It fitted his personality.

the only design in the movie i didn't seem to like was brains.

 

I'll adimt, Wheeljack's head did look too humanish for me but, either way, I still like it.

 

He gave Ironhide his guns he used to kill the dreads, He built optimus' weopon armory/jet pack trailer, he fitted bumblebee and Sideswipe with Stealth mode and he gave Sam and Nest the grapple glove and boom stick Sam used to kill Starscream and the Nest team used to kill Barricade and that genericon.

Technically WheeljaQ killed Starscream, Hatchet, Crankcase, Crowbar, Barricade and that Genericon by shear association with handing out his inventions.

 

its not that Wheeljack didn't do anything productive, its just how come he couldnt look more like his g1 character. And please dont say "Bumblebee doesnt look like his g1 character, stop complaining" because Wheeljack had some very distincitive features and its dissapointing not to see them on his movie counterpart

Actually Ironhide didn't use his own guns. The one he killed crowbar with was far too small,and if you look close,Sideswipe kicks one of HIS pistols to Ironhide

 

This. He also had a great alt mode.

 

I applaud the designers trying to get creative and use the body to present personality (considering how little screen time robots get to actually show character development), and since Wheeljack pretty much only does one important thing in the whole movie (boomsticks), having the face of one of the world's most (in)famous men (he helped develop the Atomic bomb, after all) conveys the idea the character is really smart.

I can't say the toy's robot mode looked promising from the SDCC pics, though. Alt. mode was dead-on, but something really was off with the robot. I'll have to wait for better pics to see how he turns out.

 

I would say Alice's true robot form in ROTF is the worst design of all the movies.
